They gave away the silver volvo to a lucky प्रशंसक on the Tyra दिखाना a while पूर्व and they just decided to get a black one.

i think in the commentary it was कहा that the darker color of the volvo was meant to be because the movie itself along with Edward is dark and emotional..idk. haha like i said..i think thats what he कहा in the commentary

The only reason it is black is because he went in the Tyra Banks दिखाना and three girls had a contest whoever won would get Edward Cullen silver Volvo.
