I’m gonna be honest with आप people, I have never seen the original The Hills Have Eyes, but from what I have heard, the budget was far less than the remake, and the original didn’t have modern दिन special effects या camera work to be a well known classic amongst horror movies. So, naturally, the remake wouldn’t be too hard to be good, या at the least scary…. And yeah… It’s pretty messed up alright. Well, let’s stop stalling at get to the 2006 remake of The Hills Have Eyes
The movie follows a small family travelling from Cleveland Ohio to San Diego California. The family consists of married couple, their three kids, their eldest daughter’s husband, their infant daughter, and their two dogs. Okay, so much for small family. That’s और characters than most of the Friday the 13th movies. Anyway, on their way to California, they end up getting their tires punctured when out in the middle of the desert in New Mexico. It is soon revealed that they are in the territory of mutants that were caused द्वारा nuclear radiation and want to kill people for what they did to them, and they do so द्वारा hunting down and killing those that come into the desert. So, a pretty neat concept for a horror movie, आप may ask. And I agree. So, did that idea pay off…………… Well….. That depends on what your opinion of gore is.
This has to be one of the most violent, gory, and just bloodiest horror फिल्में I’ve ever seen. Perhaps even और than The Devil’s Rejects, and that was something I didn’t think was possible. The Devil’s Rejects had at least some black comedy to keep आप from being too disturbed throughout the entire movie. The Hills Have Eyes has no dark humor. In fact, there is no humor. It’s just disturbing shit the entire way through. A group of mutants point a gun at a baby, a girl gets beaten and molested द्वारा monsters, an elderly man gets set on fire, completely, his skin gets burnt to black and his eyes boil and explode in a white liquid, in close up, on screen, fucking gross. This movie does not let up for even a second. Every second, there is something violent या disturbing या just plain messed up happening throughout the movie, and there is not a moment to wonder what happened before the अगला crazy thing happens. That’s either really good या really bad depending on your opinion of that stuff. I remember being scared द्वारा some of this stuff. But, I was nine when I watched this, so I was scared of a lot of things… And yes, I did watch this at the age of nine. I was a weird kid.
Looking at the movie now, I gotta admit, there are moments that are…. Disgusting, but there are also some pretty tense moments. Like scenes where one of the survivors is wondering around the same room as the mutant, but trying not to be seen द्वारा it, and just passes from one room to the अगला without being seen. I प्यार that scene just for the tension of it. I think it’s my प्रिय scene. No gore, no dialogue, just total silence (Except for the score that plays in the background, but what can आप do about that). Sure, there aren’t much scary scenes, and what scenes try to be scary end up being… disgusting, but I can at least say that they tried…. And…. the gore effects are good.. A bit too good. ]
While there are some things I can praise about this movie, there’s no need to worry. There are some things I can hate about it for too. Like the mutants. Sure, they can be creepy, and do have some nice make up and designs of them, but why do they have to be psychotic killers? Just make them और sympathetic या something. Don’t make them seem like just crazy killers and… cannibals? Maybe? The movie didn’t exactly specify if they were cannibalistic या not. I wasn’t too sure. Oh, but thank goodness the ONE girl mutant is kindhearted and such. At least she isn’t a killer like the rest And the main characters in this movie, near the beginning, must not have watched too many horror movies. They go ahead and take a hint from some creepy gas station attendant in the middle of freaking nowhere and take a shortcut and think “Yeah, this guy seems trustworthy, why not?” Spoilers, he wasn’t. This shortcut lead to half of the people in the movie dying. Some trustworthy gas station attendant he turned out to be, wouldn’t आप say?
I have to say, this isn’t exactly the best remake out there. There are worse. Far worse (Nightmare on Elm Street), but there are also better. Positives. Designs and the atmosphere. Negatives. Too much gore. Just too much. Way और than necessary. If आप can handle lots and lots and LOTS of gore, than I guess आप could enjoy this movie… maybe. But as for me, no thank you. This much gore starts to make me squeamish. Take care.
Up अगला on October Movie Marathon: It’s still freaking going?
