Chapter Three

    “ Hello there, Wendi. Would आप like to sit with us today?”, Colleen कहा in a sweet beautiful voice. I nodded and sat, too amazed to speak. Jacob spoke next. “ Cat got your tongue?”, he teased. I smiled and blushed. “Leave her alone, Jacob. आप are too scary for her to talk to you. Just listen to how fast her दिल is going.”, Leo said. Colleen gave him a sharp look and he was silent.
    I had no clue what they meant but they were slightly weird. As I thought this, Carmen sneered and giggled. “ Shut it, Carmen.”, Colleen said. “ Wendi, would आप like to be my first friend here?”, she asked. “ Um.. Sure, that would be great. Colleen grinned from ear to ear, just like a Cheshire cat. I looked at Stefan and he was smiling, too. They were all smiling, दिखा रहा है their fangs. Carmen drew in a short breath. Was she पढ़ना my mind या something? Every time I कहा anything like fangs या mind reading, she tightened up and clenched her jaw. Once again, weird.
    The घंटी, बेल rang and I noticed that I had forgotten to eat. Apparently, so had they. Another short breath from Carmen. Stefan and I went to our अगला class with small talk on things like the weather and projects due. “ Do आप have plans अगला Saturday night?” Wow. Was he asking me on a date? “ No, I don’t think so. Why?”, I asked. “ I want to take आप to dinner. Would आप go?” Wow, Stefan had asked me out!!!! “ um.. Sure, of course . When will आप pick me up?”
    We made plans for अगला Saturday about six thirty. As we entered the class, he held the door open for me. Everyone stared, of course. He sat in front of me and turned around in the सीट and just looked at me. My दिल did funny things.
