Scarlett Ryans took her homework and school bag out of her locker and headed to the bus. She was quite depressed about the school prom that her साल are allowed to go to. She didn't have a dress या anything, and she didn't have a date. If Roxy'd got a date, then you'd think it'd be easy to get one! Even though she hadn't gotten a date, she didn't want to be asked out द्वारा Jamie. He was a total weirdo, he lived in one of the other villages that went to the school. He's definitely not the dream date, he told one of Scarlett's other mates that he lived in a dustbin. But with her luck, Scarlett was probably the first person Jamie would want to go out with.
"So, Rikki was gonna ask Vanessa out for the prom, but it turned out she's already going out with Alex, so blahblahblah and she's going to get a makeover blahblah
She wasn't actually saying the blahblahblah part, those were the parts she just blanked out because she wasn't interested in who Vanessa was going out with and how hot the prom dress was. She was too busy chatting to Ross about stars and planets and stuff.
"There's gotta be some sort of life out there, 'cause Earth's got twin planets and stuff. It's almost impossible to think we're the only living things in the universe, right?"
"Yeah, I mean, being honest, the biggest sign there's intelligent life out there is that they haven't tried contacting us.." She grinned.
Ross smiled. "You're not bad, Scar. You're not afraid to be yourself...even if आप do end school with every teacher you've had ticked off with you!"
"Yeah, well, what can आप do? If they just go on about Precursors and atoms and stuff, I've got a right to have a little bit of a joke, aren't I?"

Roxy turned around from the 'interesting' conversation the girls were having and turned pale. "Oh, god, there's mum...I've gotta go, I was supposed to be doing my maths homework.."
"Oh, Roxy! आप really are hopeless.." Lia giggled.
Scarlett stood up."I'm gonna go too, guys, it's getting late..."
"Ok. See आप later, guys." Kara कहा cheerfully.
Later that night, Scarlett went outside and looked up at the stars. She always loved the beauty of the night sky and the moon. Suddenly a flash soared across the sky.
