I don't find this trend "empowering'' at all and whoever does is dumb. It's offensive and it objectifies women. Forget talent and brains. This is just a sad desperate cry for attention. I understand the point where the raunchy things these women do that focus on their butt upsets people and I agree with that to an extent. However, these women.... I just honestly don't care what they're doing with their behinds on camera, it's not going to affect me, it's not going to have a significant impact on the universe, this whole 'twerking' thing is just a phase, people will shortly move on to the next controversial thing to sing about and dance about.

It's not the trend itself that bothers me though, it's the whole "Fuck you skinny bitches!" attitude that is included. Honestly, I think things would be much better if people just focused on healthy bodies rather than on these idealized bodies (whether it be stick thin girls in magazines or girls with abnormally big breasts and butts) that are only obtainable through genetics, plastic surgery/implants, or eating disorders. There are men who like big girls, and there are men who like small girls. I for one I like big asses (that are real) but I don't believe that girls and women should have to change their bodies just to get a man; changing your body for guys who are just going to hit it and quit it is a waste of time, money, and dignity. At the same time, I think that the modeling requirements that drive women to do harmful things to get the body of an Auschwitz survivor is problematic, not just for the body image of women, but for the health of the actual women in the business. A person who isn't naturally skinny but not overweight either shouldn't have to choose between giving up his/her dream of being a model and having to weight less than a normal, healthy weight for their age and height.

Yeah I also agree there; I don't like the whole hating on skinny women trend. Just like some people are naturally bigger, some are naturally skinny. It's horribly rude to claim that skinny bodies are unrealistic or to refer to skinny women (and men ) as 'twigs' or 'anorexic'. Basically just leave people's body types alone. Until it becomes a health hazard, let people do as they please.
