The Most Dangerous Mission
Chapter 2: Greener Pastures
The अगला morning at early hours, Skipper couldn’t sleep, and he knew why too. He found himself drifting along the corridor to Kowalski’s bunk. He stood there a moment before hesitantly opening the door and going inside.
“Yes, Skipper.” Kowalski raised his head from the तालिका, टेबल where he fell asleep on a pile of all his experiment parts. His eyes drooped from exhaustion, but Skipper didn’t really care that he was interrupting anything right now.
“Well, आप aren’t going to do it, are you?”
    “Do what?”
“Like आप don’t know, soldier. Your visitors?” he reminded Kowalski. “You aren’t really considering deserting the military, are you?”
He didn’t answer directly and cast a forlorn glance down at his work table. “I don’t really know. The psychological emotions are too difficult to comprehend and distribute at this time.”
Skipper did not understand. Was that a yes?
“But there is nothing to consider. What the विश्वविद्यालय offers is not for you. Science is a waste of time, and giving up your important position here is not benefiting anyone no matter what Page and Riley say,” Skipper insisted.
“You just don’t understand.” Kowalski muttered quietly.
“What was that? I understand this perfectly. I know आप want to desert me for a विश्वविद्यालय आप know nothing about!”
He flinched slightly under Skipper’s wrath, but got the courage to speak. “How do आप know? Have आप ever asked me if I wanted to go?”
“No, and I shouldn’t have to. Soldier, what is wrong with you?” Skipper demanded. How could Kowalski want to leave me?
“You disrespect my interests. आप are letting your own emotions get in the way of what someone else might be feeling,” Kowalski explained. “You think आप can answer for me, but आप can’t because maybe आप don’t know me as well as आप think आप do.”
Skipper was shocked. He could only gape at the insubordination he just heard. What could he say? There was nothing to say.
“You are only thinking of yourself,” he concluded.
Skipper narrowed his eyes and was tempted to smash everything on that table. It would serve Kowalski right for talking to him like this. “I will have आप banned from scouting missions for a month,” he threatened.
“Do what आप want. I do not really care. आप can not control every aspect of my being.”
Skipper stormed out of the room, slamming the door shut behind him, a torrent of raging emotions boiling inside him.
Rico scurried across the hall, coming up eagerly to say hi with a new weapon he had been playing with.
“Get out. I am not in the mood,” Skipper growled.
He cocked his head, looking confused.
“LEAVE!” His voice was of blistering fury and Rico ran for his life and dived back into the mess hall, leaving him along with his rage. Skipper sighed. There would be plenty of time to regret doing that later.
“I can’t believe that traitor, thinking he can just abandon me. This is an outrage. That is at the चोटी, शीर्ष of the सूची when it comes to ruining a life.”
Skipper found himself talking to no one in particular. He normally did that when he had problems, and talking them out seemed to make the situation less troublesome. “Kowalski also कहा that आप do not respect his ideas. Yeah right. I would never disrespect my crew.”
    Even less convincing.
He wandered along until he entered the one place he seldomly visited, but enjoyed और than anywhere else in his base. He went inside and found the one inhabitant of the room, a पेंगुइन very small in size, and still on the down feathers.
Skipper called this little recruit Private.
Unfortunately Private was sleeping right now, but he still wouldn’t pay much attention to his words even if he was awake. At this stage in life, he had the attention span of a Rico.
Private looked so cute while he was asleep, Skipper thought.
Back to your problem. Kowalski wants to desert you. How could आप forget?
“What am I going to do?” he moaned. “Maybe I do disrespect my crew.” He remembered the हाल का time when he barbequed Kowalski’s experiment without a care in the world, and the look of disappointment on his face when he realized it was too far gone to be fixed.
“All right. So I made one mistake. Now Kowalski is going to leave me over that?”
Private कहा nothing, but rolled over in his sleep.
“I thought so, young private. I messed up bigtime. And get this. Kowalski totally stood up against me. Why would he do that to me? Kowalski has always been a doormat I can wipe my feet on and never have it say anything. And now this?”
Skipper was feeling a little guilty now. How could he let this happen?
“Don’t forget what आप कहा back there. That really helped.”
Wasn’t the point of talking things out was so that Skipper could feel better about himself? The और he talked the और he was pointing the finger of guilt at himself. As leader of the team, the big cheese, he was supposed to be made of steel, never be wrong. Here was an exception.
    He was wrong.
That was why he couldn’t convince himself it was all Kowalski’s fault. It was his own fault, and he couldn’t deny it.
Skipper watched Private sleep and backed out of the room slowly with new intentions. He wanted to tell Kowalski he had to stay before he was gone.

Skipper had wanted to pull Kowalski over many times during the last few days and tell him everything he was feeling, but it was harder than he thought to निगलना, निगल, निगल संकलन all his pride and say something so inferior to his lieutenant.
“Page and Riley are leaving now,” Marlene called. “Come on. Let’s दिखाना them off.”
Oh right. They were still here. Recently Skipper had avoided them ever since they got here, loathing them for trying to take Kowalski away from him. At least they were leaving now, and would take their offer for a scholarship away with them.
“I will make sure they get out of here safely,” Skipper answered and followed the ऊद, ओटर, ऊदबिलाव outside. The two reddish brown foxes were waiting with their poccessions.
    “Skipper.”
He whirled around and saw Kowalski standing there, eyes downcast.
“What…what are आप doing here?” Skipper stuttered.
“I have decided to go with them. I would like to study at the विश्वविद्यालय of Medical and Physical Sciences.”
He was at a loss for words. “But-You can’t leave, Kowalski.”
He dragged along a small bag of his stuff, some of which Skipper recognized as the gifts he had दिया Kowalski for the holidays.
“Yes, I can. After all, आप think I am a waste anyway. आप think my science will get me nowhere in life.”
“I didn’t say that,” he objected. A total lie.
    “You did.”
“But I thought आप were my friend.”
Kowalski reached in the bag and pulled out the calculator Skipper had दिया him years पूर्व for his birthday, and looked at it lovingly before handing it out to Skipper. “You are my friend, and आप always will be. Nothing will ever change that, but my mind is made up.”
Skipper could hardly bring himself to take the precious calculator, and it almost slipped out of his flipper when he grabbed it. “I can’t take this.”
“Please. It is of my utmost pleasure to leave आप with one of my belongings,” Kowalski insisted.
“I can’t believe आप are actually leaving. I thought आप were happy here,” Skipper said.
“I am, and these years have been some of the best in my life, but change is fated to happen like a भेड़िया stalking a caribou. The caribou can not escape from it until the भेड़िया tears out its guts and-“
“I get the idea,” Skipper interrupted, trying to shove the horrible image away. “Why are आप doing this to me?”
“I am not doing anything. I am only following my desires. Is that a bad thing?” Kowalski tried to look into Skipper’s eyes for any form of understanding, but found nothing.
“No, आप are being selfish. आप think आप can just abandon the military and me to go off and play with alchemy. Well, think of all आप are leaving behind. What do आप call that? Just leave. Get out of here if this life isn’t good enough for you.” Skipper didn’t know where this sudden anger surged from. Maybe it was the returning of the special little calculator he had searched half the world for, या how Kowalski looked at him with the sympathy like he was really sorry he was leaving. Well, he couldn’t be या else he would stay.
    “Skipper, I-“
“I don’t even want to hear it,” Skipper snapped and turned away. “I’m not in for excuses.”
Kowalski walked over to Page and Riley who watched the whole scene in silence. His steps gave away his crushed feelings, but his mind was made and he didn’t turn back.
Marlene कहा her good-byes to Kowalski, and he accepted them gratefully. But he did take frequent glances in Skipper’s direction, waiting for him to say something to, but he didn’t.
“I know this does not mean much right now, but I wish the best of luck to you,” Kowalski murmured.
“You too,” Skipper कहा without making eye contact. Still through the corner of his eye he could see the lithe foxes dart away, and the और forlorn and reluctant Kowalski that followed them.
Skipper threw the calculator in a drift of snow and walked away.
March 21, 2012
1628 hours

Marlene invited Elizabeth for a walk through Central Park. Not wanting to be rude, Elizabeth accepted.

“So what was it like? Being a nurse for all those people must’ve been hard work.”

“Yeah, it got difficult sometimes. Especially when we had to break the news to the family when a loved one passed on.”

“I can imagine. So you’ve never been married then?” Elizabeth looked sideways at her for a moment, knowing she had to lie.

    “Nope. Always...

The अगला morning, they woke up realizing that Eve had turned on her other side. She was resting her head in his chest, and Skipper had a firm hold around her. They got to their feet and pressed on. They walked close to each other since the temperature was now -27⁰F. They tried to keep warm.

About three hours later, they came to the coast. “How are we going to get across the ocean Skipper? We can’t swim in this water.” Eve pointed out. Skipper spotted a नाव far off to their right. “This way. We’re gonna commandeer that boat.” They sprinted in that direction, and while no one was...

The other penguins were sleeping, but Kowalski couldn't find any slumber. He was too busy swimming in his thoughts.
He was in his lab that night wondering about how the others thought about him for the umphteenth time. Private recently told him that he looks up to him, which gives him a bit of रे of sunshine in his mind, and Rico just thinks about fish, last time he checked. The teammate he worries about the most, though, is Skipper.
For a long time now, Kowalski felt like he's been watched द्वारा Skipper, as if the leader was waiting for the scientist to screw up. He knows he's different from the...

“Skipper, we are going for a long time, can we stop? I’m tired” कहा Kowalski.
“Me too” कहा Private, Rico nodded.
“Ok” कहा Skipper and they sat down.
“How we get back to the zoo?” asked Kowalski.
“Kowalski, आप always giving options” कहा Skipper.
“Oh, right...”
“Firstly, we must go out of this tunnel” कहा Skipper.
“Ok, I think it’s late” कहा Private and yawned.
“You can fall asleep” कहा Skipper.

Fifteen मिनटों later
Kowalski, Rico and Private fell asleep. But Skipper couldn’t sleep. He wanted to be sure, that nobody attack them या follow them. Finally...

Kowalski sighed. All Skipper did while Private had left was complain. That night, he was extremely crabby, and when Skipper's not happy, no one dares to be happy या even tries. Well, it all seemed to be over, since he was heading to बिस्तर so that made the tension on Kowalski ease up.
"Rico, make sure Skipper stays in bed." Kowalski whispered to his compadre. Rico nodded virgorously. Skipper was lying down, drinking दूध from his mug. Skipper's eyelids grew heavy under his sleeping cap. His eyes blinked for extra seconds.
Rico lightly placed Skipper's mobile over his leader's bunk. He hit each...

दिन 27
As Private woke up from बिस्तर that morning, the room was dim. Sure the lights were on, but the sky outside the window was darken. Moisture filled the air. Something in the penguins' instincts told them there would be a storm.
He found Skipper standing stiff in front of the window. Terror flooded his eyes. Rico was just as puzzled as Private. There was something bothering Skipper. Uh-oh, here he goes again.
"Skippah, what's wrong?" Private whimpered.
"What?! Uh ... Nothing."
"Is there something we don't know?" Private gulped.
"Listen, the night we came, Ms. Williams tookme into the hall to discuss...

She didn't think it would matter if she told him how different she feels. She does her best to eliminate traces of the past, so it wouldn't matter, right? She does her best not to be that angry around Kowalski, so, it shouldn't be a problem, right? She secretly didn't have a true motivation to calm down until she first met Kowalski, so it's easy to manage, right? If the world would go as planned, maybe. Maybe it does go द्वारा some plan, but not her plan.

Problem 1

Kowalski was looking around the zoo. He was inspecting the zoo on his own. He saw a shadowy figure in a hooded sweater द्वारा the zoo gates. The figure seemed to be crying. It was a bit tough, but Kowalski recognized the hooded figure to be Monique.
Kowalski called her out, but she just ran away. She knew it was Kowalski, but it was obvious that she didn't feel like talking. That didn't stop Kowalski from going after her, though. Although she kept trying to get away, partially using the roofs of buildings या dark alleyways, he still manages to be on her tail.

She was just about 10 miles from Manhattan, but her car broke down. When Monique got out of the car, she was angry and sad that she kicked her front left tire while crying. Luckily, she broke down द्वारा a repair garage. Before she pusher the car closer to the repair garage, she took out her biker outfit and motorcycle from the trunk. She has been riding a motorcycle a lot to get her anger out. She put on the outfit over her clothes and put her हेलमेट on.
By the time she got back on the road again, she was remembering that night.

It was an unusually chilly night in June. It was the 8th of June to be exact. Rain was pouring down in torrents, showering the abandonned trailer. The reflection of headlights on an occasional passing vehicle या a flashlight danced along the tin roof. A पेंगुइन darted quickly across the gravel road, his body slicked and shiny from the pounding rain. He hurried to the trailer, ducking beneath it and crawling down underneath. He slunk a short ways before thrusting himself up through a hatch in the floor above him. He found himself in a small, warm kitchen. He stood up, slicking the rainwater...

Skipper asked. Kowalski looked down a little and muttered: "...Because...I just taught him how to play this morning..." Skipper and Rico held back a laugh as best as they could. While the other penguins fished on the boat, Private sat on the dock, sticking his feet in the water. The पेंगुइन felt the मछली dash under his legs. A gust of wind nearly blew him over, scattering his Peanutbutter Winkies out of their bag.
Something smooth bumped his legs. Squinting, he peered into the water. An unfamiliar face stared into his. It was deeply sadden and filled with despair. The eyes were unforgettably a milky white. She was an astonishing creature.
Private was stunned. The rest of the team noticed.

"You can help द्वारा digging the graves!" The distant voice of the leader echoed through the tunnel.

Dumb Kowalski's conversation with Skipper

Kowalski:  Hi, I'm a penguin.

Skipper: Okay.

Kowalski: Are आप a penguin?

Skipper: Yes.

Kowalski: Yay! We're sisters!

Skipper: We'd better go outside. It's almost feeding time.

Kowalski: I like feeding things!

Skipper: We are the ones that get fed.

Kowalski: I hate feeding time. Why can't we feed ourselves?

Skipper: आप can.

Kowalski: Yay! I प्यार lemurs!

Skipper: Fine. *goes up the ladder*

Kowalski: No, Skipper, don't leave me here alone, with all the monsters! *clings onto Skipper's foot like a toddler*

Skipper: Then आप can come out with us.

Kowalski: Hooray for fish!

Skipper: *sigh*
Chapter 9

Skipper raised his sword and shield up, the odds were against him, but he had the power of his mother द्वारा his side. Blowhole controlled his monster with his mind, with just a simple thought he could make it do anything he wanted. Blowhole controlled his monster to use its claws to crush Skipper like a bug. Skipper jumped up before being sandwiched द्वारा the huge bat claws, but didn't notice one of the claws that came up to strike him down. While Skipper was down, Blowhole put his claws together and started to make a laser and shot at Skipper. Skipper turned himself into mist before he...
