How many times did JRR Tolken have to rewright the Lord of the Rings before it was published?

i not sure if he did at all but while he was लेखन if he ran in to trouble he would go back and start over(no computers :)) so if he did i not sure of the number sorry! :(

He rewrote every chapter at least 3 times. He even kept changing it right before it was published before the publisher कहा enough and to just प्रकाशित करे it now. Just read the history of the war of the rings. They're called Return of the Shadow, The Treason of Isengard, The War of the Ring, and Sauron Defeated. They have the original outlines of the plot and a few things may surprise you, like Treebeard was originally evil and a rejected epilogue. Hope I helped!
