There should be a fourth option: it doesn't matter. Because I really don't care as long as the characters have likable personalities.

Lol, when I read "where Princesses don't end up with Princes", my immediate thought was the princesses do not end up with any man at all (Pocahontas or Brave). But then it could also mean "where Princesses end up with non-Princes", right? (Mulan or Tangled)

Brave and Mulan are my favorites. Including Frozen.

Honestly it doesn't really matter for me if the Princesses have to end up with Princes or not. But as some of my favorite Princesses are like that (Rapunzel, Mulan, Merida, Elsa (if I include Frozen)), I picked this one.

I don't think it really matters in the long run if the prince or princess starts off being highborn or not. And Brave and Frozen--- where there are no princes at all ( except for an evil plot twist) --- are some of my least favorite Disney movies bar none. They're not satisfying at all to me. Just saying.

Not having a prince of any "kind" in a Disney movie doesn't necessarily mean it's a good or great movie. I don't really love the Revival Era because most of those movies present the version of Feminism that is at its worst. It's the kind of version where you slam the other gender to make the females look better. They thought I didn't catch on to that. But I did.

^Why do you referred this poll with Revival Era movies? As the description "Where Princesses don't end up with Princes" doesn't happen in Revival Era only. Some princesses like Jasmine, Pocahontas, and Mulan don't end up with princes too. I'm getting confused with your statement.

^The Revival Era drew the most attention to the fact that the princess didn't end up with the prince, or didn't have a prince at all.

The few Renaissance movies that had examples of non-pairings or pairings of non-royalty ( Pocahontas, Jasmine/Aladdin, and Mulan) had a pairing that was "among equals" while it lasted--- not a hasty relationship that was not among equals or the absence of a relationship at all to make the desired "point."

The only Disney Princess movie in the Revival Era to present men and women as equals ( not belittle the male) is Tangled. The rest just heap the criticism on the male character, or just present all of the males ( whether they are royalty or not) as buffoons or as evil.

most renaissance movies had pairing of non-equals, one way or the other, 4 out 5. So i dont see how revival era drew the most attention to the fact that the princess dont end up with the prince. Except for TLM, where only princess ends up with a prince, there's no movie in renaissance where it happens. So it most certainly started the trend long before revival era. Revival era started the trend of having no romantic relationship with Brave. I dont count Frozen as neither of the leads are actually a DP.

Anyways, it doesnt really matter to me but i guess this is closest.

^Nah. What about Sleeping Beauty? And the Revival era did start the trend of not having a prince at all, or started the trend of presenting the prince as lackluster and not on equal footing with the princess. The princesses aren't presented "as clowns" in the Revival Era. But the "princes" are. Naveen is shown as a lazy, good-for-nothing playboy, the princes in Brave are so disgusting that all that can be said of Brave was that it was meant to "reinforce singleness," and even parts of Eugene's character were played for the lampoon element.

As for everything starting with TLM, I don't think so. Eric was not presented as a silly or lazy guy with bad hygiene. Belle/Adam, Cinderella/Prince Charming, Aurora/Phillip, Snow White/The Prince, Aladdin/Jasmine, Pocahontas/John Smith, and Mulan/Shang didn't have movies which disparaged the male counterparts, either. But I keep seeing that reoccurring theme in the Revival Era. The male leads in the Modern era look either silly or awful. What's with that? It's not funny to me. And it does bother me, when I sit down and watch these films.

What about stories where the princess doesn't end up with anyone like in Pocahontas and Brave?

Anyways, I guess this one because I really like Belle and Tiana. It doesn't really matter that much to me though.

It gives me a magical feeling when the princes want to marry them regardless of their background. I also like it when the princess doesn't end up with anyone. Cinderella and rags to riches stories like Tiana are the best narrative stories that most appeal to me, I don't mind any other options though.

@wavesurf: oh i do agree that male leads in the revival era have been dampened to say the least. But i was talking about not the characters' personality but the nature of pairing. In renaissance era, in TLM, princess Ariel ends up with Prince Eric. Apart from that there's no equal pairing. BATB - commoner with prince, Aladdin - princess with commoner, Mulan - commoner with general, Pocahontas - no pairing.
BTW, i didn't say TLM started the trend. Actually, Cinderella was the first to have a non-equal pairing. Sleeping Beauty has equal pairing and the rightly done pairing as per their times.
