	prussiaducky picked Modern: Gothel: I just watched Tangled again right now, and I realized a much deeper level to Gothel. Ursula just casts a spell on a naïve girl in order to get to her father's power. Cool. Maleficent uses a spell on the young princess in order to get revenge on the King and Queen for excluding her. Nice. But Gothel, Gothel is another story. She uses pure wit, and mentally screwed this girl so much, she was having a war with herself for simply going outside. Gothel isn't scary, even funny, but to manipulate this girl without chains, a TEENAGER who is SO curious of the world, to convince her enough to never keave is astounding. Through the song Mother Knows Best, and the beginning scenes, we can see how bad she made Rapunzel feel. Calling Rapunzel chubby, under dressed, ditsy, ugly even. She told her, and brilliantly infact, she spoonfed her these terms little by little. Anyone would have started self harming or had thoughts of suicide in Rapunzel's situation, but Gothel knew how to manipulate. She knew her boundaries. She spoonfed, but didn't bully by adding a "just teasing!" at the end of her remarks. Gothel is a true master in the art of mental manipulation, and was PATIENT unlike the other DP villains. None of the other DP villains are like Gothel. The others are just plain evil, and that's that. posted एक साल से अधिक पुराना.
