The five months had passed quickly. Nothing much had changed, except I was sleeping in Alexander’s बिस्तर on a regular basis. I was also much happier. I didn’t have panic attacks as often, but that could’ve been because I didn’t have the stress I used to.
Alexander and I had been packing. We were moving to Russia. Dr. Anozi and all my family were over there. Alexander’s parents had passed, and he didn’t have any relatives. He was okay with the move. I was excited about going home. It had been years. The only thing I had seen of घर was the occasional postcard mom would send me.
Xander and Lucy had been excited about the fresh start. I told them I would be घर schooling them, and the Russian language would be one of their classes. They had been enthusiastic about learning a new language. I’d have to teach Alexander as well. I spoke a bad mixture of English and Russian when I was on the phone with them, so it would probably be the same at home.
We boarded the plane as it neared noon. Xander and Lucy sat in the aisle in front of Alexander and I, side द्वारा side. I talked about my family the whole flight.
“Well, there’s mom. She’s my best friend, and she’s like me, but not as neurotic. Dad is cool, but he knows how to tease. My grandparents are a little harsh, but they couldn’t be better,” I said. Alexander seemed to be लॉस्ट in my eyes though. It was funny to watch him get लॉस्ट with me. I know I did the same with him. “Did आप hear me?” I asked smirking.
“What? Oh, yeah, I heard you. So, I should get along rather well with everyone?” He asked with an eyebrow raised. He had been a little nervous about the first meeting.
“Yes, आप will, and they will प्यार you,” I कहा putting my hand on चोटी, शीर्ष of his. “Not as much as I do though.”
Alexander grinned “Good.” The rest of the flight went द्वारा rather slow. I started to get antsy.
After two hours of bouncing in my seat, Alexander threatened to put me to sleep. I promised I would calm down, but I hadn’t. I was just so excited. After what felt like an eternity, the plane finally landed in Moscow. We were going to travel द्वारा car to the village. My mom and Dr. Anozi were going to be at the airport to pick us up. Lucy, Xander, Alexander, and I walked into the airport and started looking around.
“She should be around here somewhere,” I mused as we walked around in circles.
“Damien!” I heard a female voice call, and I felt small arms go around my mid-section. I pulled away and turned around.
“Mom! How are you?” I gave her a hug, playing with her hair that hung halfway down her back.
“I’m great! How are you?” I pulled away from her to look into her eyes. They were so familiar to my own.
“Couldn’t be better,” I कहा smiling. I was home; there was no better feeling in the world.“Who is this?” Mom asked. She knew perfectly well who it was, but she liked the formal introductions.
“Mom this is my boyfriend, Alexander,” Alexander extended his hand.
“Pleasure to meet you,” he said. Mom looked at his hand for a moment, and then hugged him. I smiled, ‘hugs not handshakes’ had always been her motto.
“And they are?” She asked pulling away from Alexander to look at Lucy and Xander.
“Um, this is Alexander’s daughter Lucy,” Lucy and mom hugged. “And this is my son, Xander,” Mom looked at him for a moment. Her gaze lingered on his lip ring, and tattoo on his shoulder. Then she gave him a hug. She was never big on the whole टैटू and piercing thing, especially on a thirteen साल old. I found it rather creative though.
“It’s wonderful to meet आप all,” She कहा giving a warm smile. “Come on, let’s get to the car.”
We all walked to the car. I twined my fingers through Alexander’s. Dr. Anozi was in the car. I had been waiting to see him again for so long. He was like family to me. We got into the car; well it was और like a minivan. Lucy and Xander in the back, Alexander and I in the middle, and mom and Dr. Anozi in the front.
“Damien, आप haven’t changed a bit,” Dr. Anozi कहा looking back at me. He hadn’t either, he had grey hair, and he still had a booming voice.
“How have आप been?” I asked Dr. Anozi.
“I’ve been alright,” something flashed in his eyes. It made my stomach clench. “I heard you’ve been doing well. I heard आप have a son,” I nodded. He tuned his attention to Alexander. “I heard आप are Lucy’s father. Biological father,” कहा Dr. Anozi. Alexander nodded slowly. “Well, I should’ve known. Genette always talked of आप so fondly, and आप were so close.”
“Wait how do आप know Genette?” Alexander asked referring to Lucy’s dead birth mother.
“Genette is-was my daughter,” Dr. Anozi said.
