chapter 1 the runaways

I can hear Hanna and Rob fight from the bathroom, tears runing down my siver eyes.
"WELL EXCUSE ME FOR WORKING A सेकंड SHIFT!" Rob yells.
"second shift?" Hanna starts softly. "MORE LIKE CHEATING ON ME WITH A SKANKY WHORE!" और tears fell from my eyes as I covered my ears. I sniffed, got up, and walked to the bedroom. I tryed to opend my door, but it was locked. I had to ues my hair pin to open it, but I had to be really quiet...
CLICK!
I gasped silently.
"HANNA CALM DOWN! YOU'LL WAKE THE KIDS!"
"ME?! WHAT ABOUT YOU?!"
I sighed and quickly opend the door, and closed it. I looked around my room, poster of my प्रिय bands, candles, and my tower of पुस्तकें in the corner of the room. I steped out to the balcany and rested my elbows on the rail. I looked up at the sky, trying to look for a star; and...nothing...
Rob and Hanna fighting, not seeing a single तारा, स्टार in the sky, the noise...it was all because we moved out of the country and into New York.
"I HATE THIS STUPID CITY!" I yelled as I heard my door open, crying and sniffing coming from behind me. "I'm not taking sides with anyone." I said, thinking it might have been one of them but it wasn't. It was my little sister Emma. She had her teddy bare in one hand and rubbing her eye with the other hand. "Adele, make mommy and daddy fighting." Emma said.
"Wish I could Em, wish I could. Come here." Emma ran to my side and huged me. After a few minutes, I heard thuds and huged Emma hareder. She started to cry and sob out of controle.
"Come on." I said.
"Where are we going?" Emma sniffed. I went to the kitchen, not looking at my mom and dad dead on the floor. I grabed the car keys, snacks, and flashlights. I went back to my room and answered Emma's question.
"The woods." Emma's spirtis were lifted. She jumped up and down forgetting that mom and dad had just died. We knew that when we heard 'woods' and it was night, one thing came to mind...fireflies and owls. We were nuts about both of them. We loved them. "Stay here." I grabed a blanket and went to the living room.
I looked at my mom and dad and covered them with the blanket and कहा "all because of one little mistake." I shook my head. "c'mon Ems! let's go!" Emma walked out of the room, not looking at mom and dad and walked out the door. I fallowed her out the streets and into dad's jeep. I turned on the engen and we were off. I was lucky, being 19 and haveing my drivers licence.
"Adele, why did mom and dad kill each other?" Emma asked. "I don't know."
"how did they kill each other?"
"I don't know."
"why don't आप know?"
"I DON'T KNOW!" I yelled at Emma. A tear ran down her eye. "I'm sorry Ems, I got stressed out." I said. She sniffed, "it's okay."

"We're here." I said. Emma quickly opend the door and ran out. millions of little firelies were alredy there and the owls hooted. I siged.
"Heaven." I walked back to the car and turned on the radio our प्रिय song 'fireflies' द्वारा owl city (it was colmpletly notorious) played.

"I'd like to make myself believe that plant earth turns slowly, it's hared to say that I'd rather stay awake when I'm asleep, because my dreams are bursting at the seems." I sang along as my sister lauged dancing with the fireflies. I herd a twig snap, a thud and a grunt. The fireflies went away and Emma came running to me. "Emma get behind me." I whisperd.
I slowly walked behind the bushes to see what it was. I pulled back leaves to see a man on the floor, dead I think. I bend over and taped it. He let out a moan of pain. "Em, quick, open the door." Emma ran to the jeep and opend the door. I tryed to pick him up, but he was so heavy. "Em, stay with him, I'll bring the jeep here." Emma quickly ran back as i went to get the truck. I picked him up (even though he was heavy) and put him in the back seat. "what are we gonna do whit him?" Emma asked. "we'll take him to our place for the night." as we left the woods with the broken body, I stared at him with the mirror.
