Jacob
I had to be surprised. Why wouldn't I be? Edward was pretty mad when he read in my mind what happened two nights ago. He was even madder when he found Renesmee was crazy enough to keep... IT. I thought Renesmee was going mad. She would still bite if we'd taken the thing out first chance. I felt sick to my stomach. This wasn't right. I'm going to be a father. If it's a son, I'm running out of town until it's grown up.
Right now, Renesmee was conked out on my bed, her hand on her belly protectively. She'd never acted like this before. When I suggested we take it out, she growled at me. Then she snapped at her own mother's hand when Bella put it on her shoulder to calm her down. I couldn't stand this. I ran straight to Carlisle, who got off of work as soon as he could to meet with the rest of the family.
"We need that thing out," I told him.
"I know, but every time I try handing Renesmee a spiked drink, she freaks out. It's like she can sense what's going on. We all tried getting something to her, but nothing works. All of us, but you," he कहा in one long paragraph.
"So what, आप need me to trick her into accepting a drink spiked with sleep powder?"
"Maybe she'll be और willing with you."
I sighed. "It's worth a shot," I gave up.
The अगला morning, Rosalie tried again with a spiked नारंगी, ऑरेंज juice. I stood in the doorway, watching her reaction. Sure enough, Renesmee freaked out. BIG TIME.
"No! I don't want anything from you! Go away with that junk-in-a-glass! Leave me ALONE!!!" She screamed.
I then had a thought. What if we spiked a specific piece of food, and I gave the whole thing to her. Let's say, one french fry was spiked, the others innocent. If she freaked out, I'd reassure her द्वारा eating an innocent one.
Edward looked at me suddenly, like I was the world's smartest man alive.
"That's wonderful! Good thinking, Jake!" he exclaimed.
We soon had some french fries ready, and Carlisle cleverly disguised the powder as salt. He dipped a fry into the "salt" and put it under a pile of fries.
"Alright. Be sure to get one from around the edges, या you'll get spiked," Edward warned, giving me the tray that held two glasses of vanilla shakes, one basket of seemingly innocent french fries, and a bagel. I steadied the tray and entered the room.
Renesmee looked like a wild animal, her hair messed up and her eyes hostile. I smiled at her. She realized something was up.
"I won't accept anything from you," she growled.
"Hey, hey, calm down. See? Everything's harmless," I assured her. Then I ate an innocent fry, took a small sip of both vanilla shakes, and a bite of the bagel. When Renesmee saw nothing was wrong, her eyes lit up a little.
"Okay," she कहा cautiously. I watched as she took a french fry and chomped on it.
Score! I thought. Then my stomach dropped as she looked at me reproachfully.
"Aren't आप going to eat?" she interrogated.
"No. आप haven't eaten anything in a दिन and a half. Meanwhile, I'm enjoying a fine meal a la Bella."
She laughed.
"I don't need Carlisle to tell me what I need. One laugh a दिन with Jacob, cuddle Jacob, and make sure I can trust Jacob, every single day," she whispered.
Now she was making me feel guilty. Then she picked up the tainted fry. I was debating on whether to tell her या to let her eat it.
That's when everything went off track. She sniffed the air, then threw the french fry to the other side of the room. She started to cry.
"But I guess my perscription is way off," she screamed. "I didn't expect this from YOU!!! How could you?!!! आप went with them! That fry was tainted! I can smell it, and it's on the other side of the room! GET OUT!!!"
I ran out as fast as I could. I slammed the door behind me. Then I slumped to the ground, leaning on the door. I hid my face in my hands. I लॉस्ट the trust of the woman I love.
