Courtney is one of the top 5 when it comes to popularity with fans, along with Duncan, Gwen, Owen, and Heather and she is anything but simple, so of course fans enjoy intrepreting her character. When did people want to root for her? I wouldn't mention TDI since she was eliminated before the merge, but I can say that her role was very rootable in TDDDDI in that she is evolving into her own character. We get the impression that she is calculative, resoursful, and competetive while not being manipulative. (She never asked for Duncan to attack the alligator, mind you. Duncan did that of his own accord and frankly, I think it's a bit disengenious to expect Courtney to be tied down to someone who will slow her down. There was no evidence to suggest that Courtney wouldn't have shared the money with Duncan, and it would've been a hinderance to them both had she stayed with him. Her indifference towards Cody, Owen, and Tyler is just that. Indifference. I highly doubt that Courtney legitamately planned to violentl murder all three of them in live television when she expects to eventually run for office later and I assume having 3 accounts of attempted murder would severly garnish her image, which is a risk Courtney would never take. Saying that Courtney is incompetent is false as well because she was the champion of single-handedly winning almost all of the challenges in TDA to the point that Chris delibertely had to set up a challenge that was literally impossible for her to win (by this, I'm referring to the Murder Mystery challenge. Claiming that she "never" takes responsibility for her actions is a silly argument as well because she doesn't just what you claim that she doesn't do! She literally slaps herself and cries out of humiliation for losing the fear challenge to the point where she (almost!) offers to take the heavy fall. Also, in TDWT, she is seen in the confessional admitting that her infatuation with Duncan has delayed her from getting to the dock in time before the other teams. I really don't see where you're getting that she doesn't take responsiblity for her actions.
Prior to Duncan in TDWT, Courtney was seen as a team player. Please tell me. How evil and villianous was it for Courtney to try to persuade Chris to let Heather help her pull the carriage? (which can ONLY benefit the team!) I'm sure that she was evil too for wanting to vote Heather off when she was unjustfiably whipped with a chain for no reason other than to satisfy Heather's sadistic cruelty. How would you react in that situation? Courtney actually handled it quite civilly whereas Leshawna (a person many regard as a hero) would have started a fistfight. Also, you seem to be ignoring the fact that Courtney wanted to save the sausage grinder before Heather tossed it out (which again could only benefit the team. Ohh, selfish Courtney, how could you! :( ) Even Post-Duncan she was civil! She attempted to let bygones be bygones with Duncan when she was forced to be his teammate. She could have done exactly what Duncan did and humiliated him but she sacrificed her dignity for a CHANCE for not only her to win immunity but for the very same person she now appalls! She was willing to put teamwork above her pride and arrogance. How exactly is that the means of a villian?
I don't see anything villanious of Courtney at all, especially in comparision to Gwen. Gwen, who openly was ashamed of it as evident by her confessional, still continued to violate Courtney's friendship. Gwen has no dignity or self-respect in that regard. Evidentally, Gwen is not honest with herself.

This is NOT mine.
She also had dirt on Leshawna on her PDA, cheated her way through challenges with her special privileges, received ridiculous, unfair immunities, and also copied off of Lindsay in several challenges. Not to mention, she took every challenge over the top and bossed around her team and declared herself team leader. This is why she is an antagonist and no one liked her on her own team.
I haven't watched TDA in awhile either.......this was just what I remembered from watching lol
I think the dirt on Leshawna was actually just a leaked out scene on Youtube. Nothing was confirmed that Courtney was the one who uploaded it. The Killer Grips were a VERY weak team, even weaker than Team Victory! Remember the episodes "The Sand Witch Project" and "Full Metal Drama"? When Lindsay took over? I love Lindsay, I really do, but her team didn't really like her when she bossed them around too, and even almost voted her off! Even Beth, her BFF!
In "Ocean's Eight - Or Nine", Courtney was pretty much the only one working on the second challenge. Owen was being a ravenous monster, and lost them their challenge, Lindsay and Beth weren't doing anything, and Justin, like usual, was doing nothing. If Courtney wasn't there, they would probably still be up that hill! With Courtney, they managed to win two EXTRA challenges as well!
In "The Princess Pride", Duncan and Justin were turned against eachother from the very moment they SAW Courtney in her princess dress. They weren't a very strong team anyways. From previous moments and moments since, Duncan is WEAK when it comes to alliances.
As for the special privileges........they are ridiculous. She was granted immunity on the episode she returned, which was ridiculous, considering everyone wanted her ass gone when she just got there. Technically, eating and sleeping better, help your game, so she was getting unfair advantages over all of the contestants. If she did win, well........that would have been a dishonest win. Anywhore, she copied off of Lindsay on the bomb challenge. Lindsay of all people disarmed the bomb, and Courtney had to copy her in order to succeed in the challenge. And the Leshawna badmouthing was on Courtney's PDA that was revealed by Beth when Beth (borrowed?) somehow got ahold of Courtney's PDA. lol I don't know why I remember these trivial Total Drama tidbits. xD
These are just some reasons as to why a lot of people don't like Courtney, me included.
A PDA has internet. Perhaps Beth was looking at some videos and HAPPENED to see that. It doesn't automatically mean Courtney sneaked into the backstage, paused for maniacal laugh, and taped Leshawna's badmouthing. (maniacal laugh? what?)
Yes, but basically all of her invincibilities (is that a word?) since have been nothing but skill, maybe "The Princess Pride", but even then she was still in strategy. For example:
"Super Hero-ld": By having a record score in the race.
"Rock n' Rule": by DESTROYING that set with her BARE HANDS!
@DandC4evacute: I don't get the whole bomb thing......I really don't. And oh man, don't get me started on total drama technicalities. I'm so irked by all of it!!!
As with the PDA, again, nothing is ever confirmed, but I associate it with Courtney.
I'm not saying that Courtney isn't a strong competitor. Hell, that's a great thing! I'm just saying that she takes it to the next level and alienates the people around her because of it. And also, if she didn't have those privileges in the first place, she would have been voted out at the end of Ocean's Eight or Nine due to her bossy nature/attitude towards her team.
