You could talk for days about The Walking Dead’s characters. Not because they’re all immensely deep, full of rich history, and dripping with intriguing quirks; it’s purely because there are millions of them.
Some of the main men and leading ladies have been developed to a place where they can go down as some of modern TV’s classic characters, but there’s an army of average fringe characters who are all in direct competition for moments that will elevate them above the rest.
It’s hard to grow in such a congested space, but there are plenty of characters who have really used their screen time well and transformed themselves over this past year. It doesn’t just include Season 6 so far, this goes through the entire calendar year and back to the mid-season point of Season 5.
A lot has gone down since then, with the gang yet to even find Alexandria at this point last year. It has been a huge test for the whole group of survivors to integrate as new arrivals, while the existing community members have had to learn some harsh lessons.
Several characters are stagnating, but here are 10 on the way up, with some developing into key players in The Walking Dead.
