Right. I wrote this up and did it quickly for someone on a मंच a while पूर्व on how to create a nice आइकन without needing to know every technical aspect of Photoshop :) I'll दिखाना 3 different ways to make an आइकन from one photo.
I used Photoshop CS2 for this but आप can use any version.
Step 1: Take a चित्र of choice. Best if it has some type of background of it already, don't take away the original background.
First icon
This consisted of 3 layers (that's how the layers are set)-
Overlay (Opacity 50%)
Screen (Opacity 40%)
Base
Second icon
Layers-
Overlay (Opacity 80%)
Screen (Opacity 80%)
Base
Third icon
Layers-
Texture thingy I got from link (which is on screen mode)
Overlay (Opacity 30%)
Screen (Opacity 70%)
Base
How the layers were set out. (applies for the first two, third one the texture was placed as the चोटी, शीर्ष layer and was on "screen" mode)
Hopefully that might help some people out if they have a dilemma trying to make icons. So there आप go, three looks from one image easily and no text was used as I think text sometimes spoils icons.
