Sadie Katz: Spotlight on the Indie-Scream Movie Queen who plays Rachel In the new Holiday Slasher ‘Hanukkah”
Cam: Netflix’s streaming Horror Show Turns it Out. A Review by Brandon Schreur
Sadie Katz is becoming a real screen presence in the topsy turvy world of indie horror. (Although she has made a couple of tentative dives into mainstream horror productions lately)
Most recently, she will hit the indie screens portraying the character of Rachel in the new holiday slasher “Hanukkah”–which will premier on Saturday December 1st, 2018 at the TCL Chinese Theaters in Los Angeles, California.
In this film, Sadie Katz stars alongside a Baker’s quarter dozen of Indie Horror mainstays like: Sid Haig (Spider Baby, House of 1,000 Corpses, The Devil’s Rejects), Caroline Williams (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, Halloween II, Sharknado 4)  P.J. Soles (Halloween, Carrie, The Devil’s Rejects) and Charles Fleischer (Who Framed Roger Rabbit, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Zodiac).
But she has a pretty awesome body of work all her own, and we’d like to spotlight that roll call.  So, please: Let us introduce you to one of the rising careerists in horror flickdom–Sadie Katz
She is actually a triple threat: Actress, WGA writer and Director living in Los Angeles. Her most recent film credits include a starring role along with Tara Reid in the wildly popular “Bus Party to Hell” , as well as 20th Century Fox’s very popular and successful horror franchise “Wrong Turn 6” playing the twisted, sexy Sally Hillicker. Showing her versatility, Sadie also played the sweet sensitive, leading lady in “Chavez: Cage of Glory” co-starring Danny Trejo and Steven Bauer. Katz also stars in the thriller “House of Bad” receiving rave reviews from Fangoria, Dread Central and Shock til you Drop.
You can also see Sadie starring as the complex Harmony a free -spirited party girl with secrets in the cult classic “Nipple and Palm Trees”. Most recently, Katz played the starring role in Lifetime’s “The Haunting of Deanna Simpson.”  You can also see Sadie playing The Goddess Ishtar in a remake of the classic horror film “Blood Feast” starring alongside Robert Rusler, Caroline Williams and Sophie Monk.
On the festival front, Sadie co-stars opposite Academy Award nominee June Squibb and Sean Maher in “The Visit” from director Romina Schwedler,  which received “Best Directed Short” by Burbank International Film Festival and is being screening internationally. Katz recently finished directing and starring in the documentary feature “The Bill Murray Experience” released by Gravitas Ventures. Katz also penned the screenplay “Scorned” starring Anna Lynn McCord and Billy Zane released by Anchor Bay and is currently shooting Circus Road a film she also co-wrote.
“Obediah Lazarus is the son of Judah Lazarus, the original Hanukiller. In 1983, Judah terrorized NY for seven nights and was preparing to sacrifice his eight-year-old son, Obediah, on the eighth night. Judah was convinced it was God’s will, like Abraham and Isaac, to sacrifice his only son to God. Luckily for Obediah, police tracked Judah down and stopped the sacrifice, but Judah was gunned down in the process. Warped by hatred with no guidance, Obediah Lazarus becomes a religious extremist, intolerant of non-Jews, “bad Jews”, and those he perceives to be enemies of the Jewish faith. He is about to unleash eight nights of horror. A group of Jewish teens are getting ready to party for the holidays, but are in for a Festival of Frights. With the help of a wise Rabbi, they deduce that the murder victims have violated Judaic law and that their only chance at survival is to embrace their faith.”
