abs07 No offense, but nothing seems to be enough for you guys. It's been FIVE seasons. The Lucas/Peyton rollercoaster can only stay afloat for so long. Their journey to s6 has been anything but easy and some people find that it's been "TOO" long. Heck, the foundation of many antileyton fans' arguments is that Leyton just never seems to find stability. They're always quote "on and off". Naley got married in season 1 for crying out loud; and had a baby in s4. But have things gone smoothly? No. There has still been much drama in between. So Leyton FINALLY settling down near the end of the SIXTH season is not the "end" of OTH. I'm sure they will continue to jump hurdles if a season 7 does come into place. They may not involve the crazy "love drama" like we've seen in the past SIX seasons (cause that would just be redundant), but I'm sure mark would still have some things up his sleeve to keep leyton interesting. Mark isn't dumb enough to make a boring season for the sake of "keeping his show going" (he isn't the money hungry creators of Dawson's Creek). I trust him. Other than season 2 (which is common for writers to have a weak sophomore season), Mark's seasons have ALL been strong. So when Mark feels like he has exhausted all possible storylines, he will call it quits. I know it.

gogokef I TOTALLY AGREE WITH ABS! Like..Nathan and Haley got married TWICE and what about the drama?Untill 6.03 when Carrie died they had REALLY exciting storylines..and let's be honest..If it was BRUCAS the couple that was getting married..would you guys have the same opinion? Cause I am ALMOST convinved that most of you would LOVE it..So let us just enjoy it..and I dunno If I really want another season! 6 seasons would be enough..I certainly want OTH to go on but If it starts getting repititive and boring then Mark'd better finish it! He knows better than us!

brattynemz Hehe. I know you'd give me the because I'm a BLer argument but I just wanted to ask, do you think the show is still the same? Well for me it's not. Brucas and Leyton aside, I'd still prefer the earlier seasons. And even if it was Brucas getting married, if I can see that Mark is becoming a crappy writer, then he will be a crappy writer to my eyes. I probably would've been a better critic, because I'd want BL's story to be perfect, I'd have greater expectations. I'd want his proposal fit for Brooke, I haven't thought about the dress - I don't think she should make her own dress, who will be her maid of honor - Peyton or Haley and stuff like that. And yeah, about another season, if OTH still has the same effect on me I'd want another one. But I can go on without watching it. And let's be honest, if Leyton isn't showing signs of endgame [and BL is] you probably would wish for another season.

ObsidianSoul AND WHOA, miscommunication here. Its not fair to assume that I wrote this article because Im a brucas fan, I didnt, its not about being anti leyton its about being aware that if stuff continues the way it is we are going to lose One tree hill because at its current pace it can only be drawing to a close. So no jumping on my back next time please. Not everything in the OTH universe is a Leyton vs Brucas debate, im raising the issue that either something big is about the shake the foundations of OTH or its drawing to a close. Don't rant AT people, its rude and i've damn sure never been rude to a leyton fan since I joined.

kuhriissten true. by the way, one tree hill's viewers has been decreasing. season 6 has been losing probably like hundreds of thousands lately. by the finale of season 5, oth lost one million viewers. that's enough said right there.

abs07 kuhriisten, what are you talking about?? The ratings have been better than ever this season. Check the figures. The CW has been raving about OTH's cinderella story with the ratings. They're pleasantly surprised. OTH has beat Gossip Girl a number of times now so I dunno what your sources are... and obsidianSoul, if you were directing your swat shield at me, I didn't mean to come off on the offensive. I don't deny that OTH has changed. but I like the change - despite leyton. I loved season 5's adult life approach. We have to face it - no show set in highschool could ever remain the same. It was gonna be either be cancelled, turned into a "college life" scenario (which is television suicide) or there's the 4 year jump. Mark did good. Yes things won't ever be the same. I mean, years go by, and our fav characters need to grow, mature, and become adults. And Leyton's marriage does [b]not[/b] mean the end of OTH. There are many things that can still be explored. That's all I was trying to say.

Point is, between september & october, ratings have climbed overall. You know what's really funny? Ratings were lowering in s5 - when leyton weren't together and fans were put through the torture of seeing luke almost marrying someone else. Shows always go through rollercoasters of ratings. But this season, the overall 3 million viewers is one of the highest ratings OTH has had in its history. And the CW raved about it. The article is in onetreehillblog.com. I dunno where the article [you're talking about] is in the tvbythenumbers site though. You mind copy/pasting it? Or summing it up? Either way, whatever it says, I've read other articles that praise OTH for its storylines/adult approach. So there will always be authors who praise AND dump on OTH...It's all about opinion, and I've seen both sides of it from journalists. Most critics love OTH for its creativity. kuhriissten "if you didn't notice, ratings go up and down depending on what's airing at the same time" don't the same shows air every week? season 2 had an average of like 4.3 million viewers! that's not their highest. yeah, critics can rave all they want but when it comes down to it, the number of viewers who watch the show matters the most. the viewers are the ones who decide whether or not the show is going to keep going. shows don't end because the critics believe it should end...the shows end because there arn't enough viewers. and yes, one tree hill's storyline has progressed IMMENSELY! and there is no article that has been written about what i was saying in my first comment. i'm looking at these ratings objectively and my personal opinion is that even though OTH has 3 million viewers (yes that is high), those numbers are decreasing which is odd because you think they would keep steady and so on since "critics have been raving about OTH"

I DO know that there are specials/games that air from time to time and draw viewers. Our most coveted shows always go through rollercoasters of ratings. That's just how it is. Experts talk about it all the time - not to mention articles are written about it all over the net. I used to keep track of Smallville's ratings when I was a fanatic and noticed the same thing. [b]season 2 had an average of like 4.3 million viewers! that's not their highest.[/b] I'm well aware that s2 had a lot of viewers! I never said s6 had the highest [b]ever[/b]. I said it was ONE of the highest in its history (read my previous comment again). They've climbed since s5 - significantly! [b]That's[/b] my point. It's staying steady in the 3 million mark and that's a strong foundation. I'm not surprised that some viewers have stopped watching here and there. Things have changed and not everyone will like it (Luke's FINAL choice has been made so whether it was Peyton or not, it would have caused some viewers to stop watching/or to not watching it as often cause now they know their favorited couple is finished; and this whole new adult life approach has turned off some viewers). But overall, the show still maintains a strong fanbase and a solid number of viewers. Now I can't predict if the ratings will drop below 3, but like I said OTH has even beat the smash hit GG in some of its time slots this season. THAT'S significant (articles were written about it @othblog.com). but unfortunately the fanbase is split in the middle, so either way, this season has lost/may still lose some viewers.

kuhriissten Yes, I agree with you that OTH's fan base has been steady over the period of time that it's been on, I'm not saying that the ratings won't go up and down through out the entire season. I'm saying that by the end of the season, Mark COULD lose viewers because IF the storyline goes to a predicted place (LP wedding and LP baby), fans COULD [i'm not saying fans will] stop watching because they can predict what's going to happen, not really an element of surprise. BUT, we already know there will be a few complications so maybe that will increase the ratings by the end of the season [i don't think Mark wants to lose fans like in season 5]. and GG has beat OTH plenty of times as well. (check tvbythenumbers)

abs07 I know GG has beat OTH plenty of times, I was just saying that OTH beat GG a few times this season which was a record surprise to the experts (cause that never happened before s6 from what I heard) so they wrote an article about it. All I'm saying is [and you seem to agree] OTH is doing good overall this season. anyhow, I'm glad we found common ground about the rollercoaster ratings :) and yes, ofcourse I hope OTH doesn't lose viewers from its predictability [in a lot of cases]. things could get interesting with the complications. I'm really curious about how it'll play out. Guess we'll have to wait and see :)

ObsidianSoul I was going over my fp account for the first time in aaages and I saw this again =p. In my own way...I was KINDA right, we did lose something. Personally think they are doing a reasonable job keeping it going though, needs some work but Mark's hanging in there.
