STOP STEALING!

I wasn`t going to make a big deal about this but I`m extremely fed up. I am posting this here because it continues to happen on One पेड़ पहाड़ी, हिल related spots. I post a lot of things to Fanpop, especially images. Something that in my opinion is very important, is giving credit where it is due. If आप find something on the web and want to share it, then feel free to post it. However, it is extremely disrespectful to claim that आप created that content if आप didn`t या simply not bother to credit.

Lately I`ve been coming across a lot of तस्वीरें of say a celebrity where the user who uploaded the picture, gives themselves credit. It is certainly possible that आप snapped that picture but when the कहा चित्र is tagged, then it is not yours to claim. This is a perfect example of link. I am specifically दिखा रहा है आप where I got that image. This is a link of how to give credit. This user claims that they made that screencap but आप can clearly see Hilarie Burton`s website on the right hand corner. I wasn`t going to call anyone out but this needs to stop! I will रिपोर्ट every single user who I see doing this. How hard is it to copy and paste a url? Putting that आप got something from "live journal" या "somewhere on the internet" is not proper credit. Stop being lazy and give proper credit. Did आप know that if the creators of the things आप are claiming are yours want, they can take legal action? People spend a lot time creating the things we post so give them recognition!

kathiria82 Fanpop should make it against terms of service to not give people credit or give yourself credit for someone else`s work.

Cas_Cat_2 You are so right about this Myra! It's very unfair to the people who make the icons. I [b]never[/b] take credit for someone's work. Even with the videos, when i get some comments saying that i make good ones, i always try to make sure that people know that i don't make them, just add them here on fanpop. The same with icons. But i guess i have to be fair, and say that sometimes i only write "LiveJournal" on the credits. =S =S It's not because i'm lazy, it's because sometimes i'm distracted. And i saw other people doing the same, so i thought it was okay.. =/ Clearly it's not. Sorry about that. =( I'll be very carefull with that from now on, i promise. =)

rosangie lol Myra, I used to to that (i would give it 2,3 stars though) and leave a note saying that if they edited the imagine and give credit I would go back and rate it 5 stars. That seemed to work very well....until now! =|

kathiria82 If you look at my ratings you will see that I have probably rated every piece of content I look at. Half you people would probably not even have your medals so from now on you won`t be earning any more thanks to me.

SeventeenQueen I agree fans shouldn't take credit for something they didn't make. However,we don't NEED to name the names of who the credit goes to. I'm sorry but coping the url is NOT crediting the person it's crediting LiveJournal. LJ didn't make it! A person on LJ did,but are we really going to take notes of EVERY username who made the icons,etc. we post?

Cammie Yeah you lazy people ...image credit your stuff PROPERLY! I do. Plus the photo of that baby crying is tearing my heart apart. 5 stars ... See, not only do I image credit BUT I also rate ...every bloody time!!!

kathiria82 ROFL!!! You`re gonna make me pee on myself Cam!!! Also 17Q copying the URL does qualify as credit, I am part of LJ and that`s why it`s divided into communities. At least you`re putting some form of credit.

BrookeYourself good article, but the rating shouldn't be for the credits, it's for the image! right?

kathiria82 Well you rate for your own reasons really. I will rate higher when people properly credit and use keywords. If not, I will rate lower.

georgiapeach91 Great article!! I've never understood why people think it's so hard to either put someone's name or a site as to where they got the picture from. And crediting yourself when clearly you didn't take the picture is just wrong.

Cammie I just clicked on the example that you have of 'terrible image credit' and I gotta say, Myra, I'm really and truly pissed now. Not only does this chick not image credit at all, she also does NOT use keywords,give a description of the image or even give the image a friggin decent title ... 6.17 Promo Caps ... what the fuck is that about?!!! Sorry I'm using foul language ,guys (I rarity for me on the site)but I'm just kinda ropable here. She also has a fanatic for the her Leyton "stolen images." Arghhh!!! I shall set an example here (hope you're ok with me doing this,Myra?!) of how I ALWAYS have and will credit my images. In this example we'll go with my Bewitched images: Title: Samantha and Darrin In Samantha Goes South For A Spell (none of this promo caps crap for a title) Description: Scene from the Bewitched 1967 episode "Samantha Goes South For A Spell." Keywords: Bewitched,Elizabeth Montgomery,Dick York,Samantha and Darrin Stephens,Samantha Goes South For A Spell Episode,1960s TV Show,Screencap Image Credit: Screen Gems/Ashmont Productions I'm on dial-up so by the time I've uploaded a heap of images with all that crap written on it, my 4 hour session is up. Do I have a fanatic for the Bewitched spot? No! And yes, now I'm really pissed!!!

leytonlove14307 hey you do know if you report abuse to her profile enough from different users her fanpop account will get suspended for a while I can actually say that i have uploaded stuff that i didnt not create but when i found out about it i took it off and deleted them so they wouldnt get mad

kristine95 after i read this article, i've put the credit on [i]everything[/i] i've added! even videos! as all the other people said, it's not fair to the people that made the icons/videos/fan art's etc. they kinda need their credit for it! ;) and this article is one of the best i've read! GREAT

mari_giovani I found this article a couple of hours ago, (i´m not even a fan of this spot, btw) and besides agreeing entirely with it, i started to notice that this doesnt happen only in this spot. And this is really bad, cause i always work so hard to credit everything i post, and it´s just not fair! Since it´s such a well written article i think you should also post it in another spot (the fanpop spot maybe?). Even if it doesnt change anything at least they´ll know how we feel about uncredited images!! :)
