The music is, of course, fantastic.

But the story makes it what it is.

I adore the music and the story is great too the only thing I don't like is how all but 2 characters have to die!!! And inevitably the 2 survivors would have to be Marius and Cosette, Only we don't know what happened to the Thenadiers even though I hope they died too.

I HAVE to read the book I feel like I missing part of the story.

I love the music of Les Mis, but it does have flaws. One that always bugged me was why does JVJ say he's JVJ? I know from the musicals stand point its because his soul belong to god and he felt he had to, and in the book he tried to find reasons NOT to go, but he still does outs himself to Javert (in the book Javert isn't there, comes to arrest him later) and then spends the rest of the musical/ book worrying about being found by him, when he caused the problem in the first place. The musical also has a weak reason why Javert is chasing him, in the book there it's more than just the silverware and the candlesticks (which he didn't technically steal, the Bishop gave it to him) it just makes him look petty.

Even though i haven't read it, the story is magnificent

Everything is so amazing, and it is my only favorite musical.
