In 2007, Kelly Clarkson – American Idol’s first winner – met with Florida teen Carissa, sharing with her a dream-come-true. Carissa was born with spina bifida, a birth defect that occurs when a portion of the spinal column fails to develop and close properly. This condition has left Carissa with severe mobility limitations. She must wear leg braces and requires a wheelchair for distance. In addition, Carissa has suffered from hydrocephalus, a condition which causes fluid to build up around the brain.

When she was दिया the opportunity for a very special wish to come true, she chose to meet Kelly Clarkson, her absolute प्रिय singer! She was able to watch Kelly perform a live संगीत कार्यक्रम before heading back stage for a meet & greet. The two chatted together, posed for pictures, and exchanged gifts.
