the desk saved the day! love that moment. the book is so intense though, he really truly cares, went trhough so much trouble to get it back.

giving her that book...it was like he was admitting defeat for her. he was letting her know that he cared and willing to concede for her happiness. i think that was one of the last ways that convinced cuddy that he really is human and wanted to be with her.

I've said before. The book was special, but the desk very subtly tells her that he has always stayed close and interested. Even if she never realised. He knew where the desk was and that she would be surprised. The book he knew would be special to her, but the desk tells her she's special to HIM. Also they way he strokes it with his fingers while he is waiting for her. It's like he's touching her skin !!!!

The desk & book are similar gestures..reaching back into the past.
Writing a song is so personal though..reaching into your heart & soul.
