Sexy partners in crime return in hopes of living a normal life, until the past catches up with them.
Letty and Javier return for the second season of Good Behavior after driving off into the sunset together with the not-so-distant sounds of cop sirens behind them.
gave meaning to the words, “partners in crime”. Brought together by unusual circumstances, Letty (Michelle Dockery) and Javier (Juan Diego Botto) find common ground in their life of crime. Letty, freshly out of prison, finds herself returning to a life of cons and robberies which leads her accidentally into Javier’s line of work as an Argentinean hitman. Both truly damaged in their own ways, they find themselves falling for one another, diving into a world of crime, lust, and thrill together. This unexpected encounter leads them down a slippery path that reveals itself dramatically through the course of season one. Who knew bad could feel so good?

After a season of “will they, won’t they” between Letty and Javier, the Good Behavior finale ended with the both of them driving off with Letty’s son, Jacob (Nyles Steele) at their side. However, Javier is a wanted hit-man so the possibilities to escape their daunting reality are very limited. If the season one finale was any indication, this reunion may be short-lived as the sounds of cop sirens trailing behind them closes out the episode. Season two will pick up right where the finale left off, giving some clarity to the mystery that was the season one finale. Will Letty, Javier, and Jacob be able to start a new life together? Will Letty and Javier ever find a way to escape their criminal past? We look to season two for the answers that we are all dying to know. Until then, let’s discuss the reasons we look forward to the second season of Good Behavior.
Never has an audience wanted a couple who is so ridiculously bad for one another to be together. Throughout the first season, we saw their shortcomings get in the way of one another, yet we still yearned for them to be one. Both possessed a sexy, hot mess of an attitude that brought forth a chemistry unlike any other. Halfway through Season one, the two parted ways, mainly due to Javier walking away, and destroying any means of finding him.
As fate would have it, he came to his senses and went back to her. Despite their ridiculously complicated lives, he is in love with her. He may not understand how this will work, but he knows he has to try. This is perhaps the guiding force that leads him back to her in the finale. Love conquers all, right? Going into season two, the dynamic of their relationship will be interesting to follow, especially now that Letty’s son, Jacob, is with them.
“He came back because he knows he loves her, which is the simple answer. He’s as flawed as Letty is in some ways, and he knows that they’re perfect together. He’s never going to find another person as perfect for him as Letty, and he knows that.” – Co-Creator, Chad Hodge (showrunner)
They may get caught by the police (remember the cop sirens weren’t too far behind!)
We last left Letty, Javier, and Jacob trying to get as far away from the police as possible. In an effort to gain custody of her son, Letty made a deal that would entrap Javier. This all went out the door when despite this, Javier showed up at her doorstep, confessing his love for her. A split-second decision had the three of them out the door and on the lam.
Before the finale’s conclusion, we heard cop sirens in the near distance trailing behind them. This all but left it up to our imagination on whether or not they would get caught. We hope that they had enough of a head start to put some distance between them and law enforcement. Because despite the craziness of it all, we vote for love to win!
“To me, that siren isn’t literally a siren that’s pulling them over. That siren is very much an indicator of what’s to come,”- Co-Creator, Chad Hodge (showrunner)
Exploring the dynamic between Letty, her son, Jacob, and Javier while on the lam.
This dynamic will prove to be rather interesting. As Season one showed us, Letty and Javier have not led innocent lives, by any means. In fact, Letty’s track record is what has prevented her from being near her son all this time. Now, however, Jacob is by her side, but circumstances are far from ideal. Javier is a fugitive on the run, and Letty and Javier are along for the ride.
It will be interesting to see if the two can refrain from partaking in their usual activities. In order to to get by, they will need food, money, and shelter, and if the past is any indication, Letty may resort to her old ways. How long will they be able to avoid the police, provide for Jacob, and refrain from illegal activities? Looks like we’ll have to tune into Season two to find out.
“That pretty much is the essence of what this show is — getting what you want and making bad decisions, which is what we all do versions of every day. This is of course a terrible situation, a hitman and a thief on the run with her 10-year-old son. Good luck with that.” – Co-Creator- Chad Hodge (showrunner)
With the custody battle of Season one, we’re almost certain that we haven’t seen the last of Jacob’s father, Sean. Letty and Sean, as we learned, had a very toxic relationship. So toxic, in fact, that Letty finds herself drunk in bed with him amidst the battle deciding who gets custody. Ugh. Not only does she relapse, but she sleeps with the man who wants to take her child away from her and has led her to betray Javier (even though, they had technically broken up at this point).
Heading into Season two, we are curious to see how Sean will play a part in Jacob’s life. Letty was granted custody of Jacob, however, Sean still gets visitation rights. That may prove to be difficult with these guys on the run from the cops. Could this situation result in custody being handed over to Sean?
“He is definitely a part of Jacob’s life going forward, and Letty’s going to have to deal with that and figure it out. He will be back for sure. Letty says, Your dad and I will try to get along in some way, she says that to Jacob — and as much as she doesn’t want to do it, she’s going to have to. It’s a very extreme version of divorced parents with kids, but you have to figure it out — and they’re going to have to figure it out.” – Co-Creator, Chad Hodge (showrunner)
Was the final sequence of the season 1 finale just another daydream of Letty’s?!
When Season one ended, many fans were left speculating if the final sequence was nothing but Letty’s imagination. In Episode nine of Season one, she has a few instances where she thinks she sees Javier (like in the diner). Could it be possible that Good Behavior may have falsely led us to believe that they are together? What a twist that would be, huh?
In the finale, when Javier shows up at her house declaring his love, it was such a perfect moment for fans. Despite her betrayal and the dangerous friction between them, he decided to be there with her. And as bad as they may be for one another, they make sense as a couple. The whole moment felt too good to be true but here’s to hoping that it wasn’t just all part of Letty’s daydream. With Season two right around the corner, we will find out soon!
“That was exactly what I wanted you to feel. It’s like, is he really there? We had it in the pilot, when she imagines stealing his wallet but then she didn’t steal his wallet. And then, in the episode where she goes home for her high school reunion, she imagines him several times — coming up behind her at the kitchen sink, and kissing her. Then, as you said, with the milkshake at the end of Episode 9 at the diner. Here, it’s like another one of those “he’s not going to really be there,” and then he is.” – Co-Creator, Chad Hodge (showrunner)
Good Behavior will begin its second season right where it left off. With the odds stacked against them, Letty and Javier will need more than their love to get them through what’s ahead.
Season one of Good Behavior left fans with many burning questions. Was it all real? If it was, will Letty, Javier, and Jacob escape the cops that seem to be trailing behind them? Will Jacob adjust to a life on the run with his mom and her hit-man boyfriend? For a show that thrives on its deep, flawed characters and intense storyline, fans can expect season two to live up to the hype.
We can expect that as Letty and Javier strive to create a normal life for Jacob, they will find that the past will get in their way. This show is nothing without its complicated twists, and as Letty tries to rectify her wrongs, she may find herself back in the path of destruction. Michelle Dockery and Juan Diego Botto did a phenomenal job portraying these intense and vulnerable characters, and we can’t wait to see they bring to them in the upcoming season.

Even with just one season under its belt, Good Behavior has a following unlike any TNT drama has had before. With how season one left off, we look forward to seeing where the story picks up from here. Will Letty finally be on a path towards “good behavior” for the sake of her son? We have no idea, but cannot wait to find out!
Letty & Javier are on the run from the cops, and with Letty’s son at their side, things are about to get more complicated than ever.
Be sure to check out TVAfterDark for Good Behavior reviews, roundtables, and much more as the second season kicks off Sunday, October 15th. Together, we will experience the rollercoaster that is Letty & Javier.
