Perfectly said.
I can't get used to the fact that this crazy shit continued for about the entire season only to end up with Cook realising he's a lost soul and start mindless fucking girls again. I just can't. It was the one aspect of Cook's character I hated.
THIS is exactly what always bugged me. I know I would never be able to ship/like CE, but if the writers took a different diarection with them and with Cook as a character maybe I would be able to understand CE at least. But this way... just no. It was always Freddie/Effy and Cook was obsessed with the idea of loving her/being loved by her, though it clearly didn't make sense at all. Ironically, Effy always showed the least interest in Cook, was never happy with him, used him, etc. The whole thing called "Ceffy" should have ended in S3. But no, the writers continued it till the bleeding ending of S4, completely wasting Cook's potential, instead of giving him some decent story-line. The "It means I still love you" and "I'd do it all again" crap... just ugh. In the end Cook just ended up being pointless and plotless and coming to where he started. It is a real shame.
but to see freddie with katie was hard...they didn't suit ot each other
In S4 Cook was truly pathetic in my opinion, he is a great character, but his potential was terribly wasted. Cook as a character was SO much better away from Effy.
Want to marry your post too because it's exactly my thoughts. Cook finds out that Effy is in love with Freddie and his pride, or his male ego I don't know what it is, takes a hit. Cook is a womanizer, he can't bear the idea that Effy decides to choose Freddie over him. It is obvious, just see the choice scene. It's not a matter of love. I think Cook wanted to be loved, that's why he clings to Effy. I wanted Cook to support Freddie in S4, to be a trusted friend, to show that he was his best mate, like he said himself. Because Freddie had to handle everything, Effy's suicid attempt, Effy's madness. There were so much on his shoulders. Cook had no right to say to Effy "It means I still love you" or "I'd do it all again". He had to stay away from her.
Exactly! Cook was a womanizer, he was used to hot chicks wanting him and he never ended up having feelings for them, but when Effy chose Freddie over him his ego was hurt. Cook wants the world to revolve around him and yes, he wanted to be loved as well, so it was a very right moment to persuade himself that he is in love with Effy. He loved the idea of being loved by her or I don't know how to put it in words, but that's quite close. He couldn't bear Freddie to be chosen by her and started playing offended and tortured even though before he didn't even take his affair with Effy seriously, he was just playing as usual.

THIS. Effy chose Freddie by herself. Freddie was right beside her and went through hell with her. All Cook did was suddenly jumping in with love declarations, prooving to be a horrible friend to Freddie. That is just ridiculous, taking that Cook's "feelings" or obsession with Effy was never even explained properly and him turning into such a crappy friend didn't make any sense and made him look pathetic, imo.
Agreed. I always thought that Cook enjoyed being the leader one, the pillar of the Three Musketeers trio. Like, "No one can't do without me, I'm the one who's worth it". He didn't like being humiliated by Effy in front of JJ and Freddie, when she said she would better fuck JJ instead of him. His ego was hurt. He was like, "How can she resist me?" that was unusual for him. That's why he thought he loved Effy.

Not only he was an horrible friend to Freddie, but he showed clearly that he didn't really love Effy. Where was he when Effy got mad? Was he at Effy's bedside, like Freddie was every day? Did he help her when she was going through her depression ? No. Apart from saying she looked like the chick from the Ring.
Exactly. He was just playing as usual, but he didn't consider one thing - Effy loves playing games too. And she was a better player than him and when he figured out she was just using him to hide from her feelings for Freddie, his ego was hurt. And that's when he got obsessed with the idea of having her.

Agreed so much. To me, loving someone is taking care of a person you love. Being there for each other and by being there I mean what Freddie did. Showing up from time to time and declairing your love to a girl that you didn't even help through her problems is not what I call a genuin feeling. Not to mention that Cook prooved to be a horrible friend to Freddie doing so.
