I think if the people in charge have determined that a particular strength is required, then that requirement should be kept even if this keeps a lot of women from participating. It's not an issue of sexism so much as the laws of physics. This said, sexism should be addressed in the culture of the particular job, where masculinity is often glorified to the detriment of women so that even women who meet the job requirements are shunned.

I see a lot of male police officers who are middle aged and have a weight problem and I wonder how these guys can effectively chase down criminals. They might have passed the exam when they were younger but if women should be held to these standards then they should have older men in the police force or military take the tests again when they're older.

The military doesn't require alot of strength really, just bravery and love for your country. No they shouldn't lower their standards.

Women are very capable of having the physical strength needed. They also have the mental strength, which is a plus.

women can be strong too and if they can't reach the limits then that area isn't right for them

They're there for practical reasons. Statistically, the average male has more physical strength than the average female, but that doesn't mean all men are physically stronger than all women - every trainee need to receive the support required for them as individuals.
