Chapter 23
Let him in...
Esme POV
I led Rosalie to her बिस्तर and sat her down on it, letting go of her. I took a spot अगला to her and held her hand.
I rubbed her hand and occasionally wiped tears from her cheeks. Rose’s sobs slowed and her unnecessary breathing returned close to normal.
She looked up at me through her lashes, “I’m sorry…” she whispered, I could tell she was ashamed and embarrassed.
“There is nothing to be sorry for, Rose.” I smiled hoping she would return it. There was no such luck, though.
“Yes, there is Esme.” She was serious…
I knew this is where it all started…
“None of this would have happened if I was smart and left my parents when I realized all they wanted my for was my beauty, so they could get और money and get into और parties…none of this would have happened if I never went to Vera’s house that night…” she कहा sternly, motioning to the area around her with her arms and throwing her head back. “None of this would have happened if I wasn’t so stupid and called my dad या my driver when I knew something was wrong…none of this would have happened…” द्वारा this time she was sobbing again, uncontrollably. I lunged over to her and took her in my arms once more. Her head was crying into my chest, “…if I screamed for help, louder!” she finished.
This brought me to tears, too. “Stop Rose!” I कहा forcefully, I took both my hands and brought her face up to look into my eyes. “None of that was your fault, you’re the victim…what happened to आप was your parents and Royce’s mistake, huge mistake.”
She put her hands on mine and pulled them away from her face. She then moved her head to the side so I could barley see her eyes.
It was quiet for a while before she spoke in a tone I had never heard her use. “This is not me…” It was a strong and humorless voice not her usual soft quality.
“What do आप mean, hun?” I asked re-taking her hand.
She looked back at me, “I am supposed to be tough and strong…not weak and emotional…”
This confused me, “Rose, everyone has their bad days, even vampires.” I tried to add some humor in there I think it back-fired on me because her eyes changed into a darker honey color. “No one, and I mean no one can be strong every मिनट of everyday, it’s impossible. And, as आप obviously know, the last 2 years have been your own personal h*ll. Rose, आप are one of the most resilient woman I have ever, met. Any girl I know would have called it quiets and went to the Volutri once she learned about what she was…” she looked thankful but other, और powerful emotions consumed her.
“You may try to look firm and serious on the outside to try and shield या protect yourself from the same pain आप went through, but on the inside I know आप are hurting and crying, not letting anyone in…and it kills me and many other people who care about आप to see आप ache and not be able to do anything…and that includes Emmett.” I knew it was a risk for saying that but she needs to understand.
Yet another silence overtook the room as she collected herself. It seemed like she was taking in everything I had said, and she looked surprised that I could read her that well.
“Emmett?” she asked looking up at me, again, after countless मिनटों of concentration.
“Rosalie, why do आप think Emmett has followed आप and worried about आप since the दिन he has changed? He knows something is wrong…and he cares a great deal for you, even though he has only known आप for a short time.” I was a little shocked Rosalie did not realize this on her own.
“I’m scared, Esme.” She whimpered as another small tear fell from her eye.
“What do आप mean, sweety?”
“I don’t want to…” she trailed off in thought. “…I can’t…I mean I shouldn’t like him.” She cried.
“Hun, w..wh..why?” I scooted over to her and wrapped my arms around her shoulders.
“I know he is a good man, better than I would ever deserve…but…”
“Stop right there, Rosalie!” I moved her to look at me. “Why in the world would आप not deserve him and have a chance at a happy life?!?” my brows were flared in anger, how could Rosalie think that of herself?
“I am not clean…innocent…I am used and destroyed…” she yelled.
We have had this conversation before, at the beach, but again I could not think of what to say…so I let my motherly ways take over…
I took her face between once और so I knew she was listening. “You have to stop talking like that Rosalie. None of that is true...you are beautiful, gentle, fragile, strong, and kind…but आप also have other qualities like आप have a tendency to be feisty and aggressive but आप are still the same Rosalie आप were 3 years back…”
“No I am not…I am damaged…ruined…filthy…” she spat.
“No, Rose your not…right now आप are letting Royce win. He is sitting somewhere laughing and enjoying the fact he made आप suffer and that it is still effecting आप today…I can’t tell आप what to do but there is a man somewhere out in those woods that I believe can help you. Even if you’re not ready to प्यार again, let him in…”
With that I kissed her head and walked out of her room, closing the door softly but not before I heard her sobs reemerge.
