Why do people want to do this to themselves?

On the news this evening i saw a news रिपोर्ट about weed. Even in illegal places: it's one of the most लोकप्रिय illegal drugs ever. I'm Teetotal, and i don't ever want to even touch a cigarette (Not ever) so when i saw और people are using cannabis, without any case of shame या embarrassment. A friend of mine used to smoke weed and it ****ed up his life! he लॉस्ट his job, his family and his house all for some stupid drug!

I don't mean any offense to those who smoke weed: but i have NO respect for people who don't respect themselves (EG their bodies, health, mental stability.) People like that have my respect when they stop damaging their own bodies.
but I'll have और respect for आप if आप didn't in the first place...Can't आप have fun without wrecking yourself?

One last question: If people don't have self-respect, then how do आप they expect others to have respect for them?

Doing drugs, या alcohol, या cigarettes, is not necessarily about people consciously choosing to "disrespect" their bodies. That sounds और like something from decades of "Just Say No" ads to me than from someone who's had any experience with addicts and/or casual users. It's about the high, about being social, about feeling और than yourself, about experiencing the world, about experimenting, about danger, and sometimes, even spirituality.

Addiction is a deceptive and disturbing disease, and can come in many forms. Drugs, liquor, nicotine, gambling, sex, even खाना and internet. Some of these are physical, like nicotine या hard drugs like heroin. Others, like marijuana, gambling, sex, etc. are psycho-emotional. Many are both. Either way, no matter what you're addicted to, it's never healthy to let one thing control your whole life. But that goes for everything beyond drugs as well.

There are about a billion factors that can lead to someone becoming an addict. However, cigarettes are और physically addictive, and kill literally thousands और people than गाँजा does, and yet cigarettes are legal.

I think we need to stop blaming the substance and start treating the addiction. I'm a casual drinker, and I smoke sheesha socially, because that was part of the culture that I grew up in (Euro-Middle Eastern). I am not addicted to alcohol या sheesha, because I consume these products responsibly, and because I know how to be responsible.

Hard drugs and nicotine, which are physically addictive, are one thing. And we should continue our advocacy against teen smoking, drinking and drug use, and continue to inform people of the dangers of these things. But just as with sex, we also need to teach our youth how to do these things responsibly, the importance of designated drivers, and, perhaps most importantly, the signs of addiction.

People are different. Not everyone view smoking weed, या cigarettes, या drinking to be a negative thing. Not everyone gets addicted to it.

I, personally, don't think everyone who drinks या smokes has a problem with self-respect. I smoke cigarettes on occasion, but I respect myself. I'm not ashamed of it - why should I be?

Also, drinking soda, coffee, eating sugary food, watching tv, walking, driving, riding a bike, running, flying on an airplane, and carrying a heavy back-pack can "wreck yourself." It's not the act itself, it's how आप do it या how frequently आप do it. Just like smoking weed - smoking in and of itself isn't going to harm you. But if आप do it so often आप get addicted, then it's harmful.

I wasn't directively aiming at smokers या drinkers, i was just expressing that to compare with how pety i am with wine to how open people are with weed.

Some people consider drinking, smoking cigarettes and smoking weed to be on seperate levels of bad. I consider them to be on the samel level, so I lumped them together. It wasn't really reflective about what आप said, but और my expression of them being the same thing.

I find this सवाल a little biased. It's sad to hear about your friend who ended up ruining his life because of marijuana, but at the same time आप can't compare everybody's usage of गाँजा with how he did it. Some people do it occasionally without it affecting their bodies या social relationships etc.

If we want to get into the सवाल of "what things are bad for you", there are surprising amounts of every-day things that are worse for आप than the once-a-summer spliff. How about that bag of crisps every other week? या that occasional treat of ice cream? या walking in the sun without sunscreen?

I don't think these things have much to do with respecting yourself, and nor does smoking weed.

Theblondegirl, are आप comparing eating ice cream to taking weed?

Are आप sure ice cream can get आप in prison, get आप sacked, lose your family and ruin your frame of mind?

I'd say it depends on who the smoker is. I am against cigarettes, but not weed. I am a responsible person, and because I am working hard at school and with politics, I need to relax in the weekends. I don't feel like I need or, nor does it damage my body. I use it for the same reasons as when I drink alcohol. It's fun to do with my friends, and it's very relaxing. It is much better that I smoke weed than drink alcohol, because alcohol does और damage to our body in large doses.

To answer your question: Is it your problem that people doesn't have any self-respect? As long as they don't bother you? And if I may ask आप a question: Do आप think that I have no self-respect after what I've told you?

See things from both sides.
