Is it right to make someone take off a religious symbol if its not distracting?

First of all, I think आप can make your point much और clearly without the profanities, या calling anyone gay, which isn't really an insult anyway.

Secondly, if it's true that your principal called your symbol Satanic, I'd take this opportunity to educate him, and the rest of the school, about the history of the pentagram, and/or religious tolerance. I'd do this द्वारा लेखन an लेख for the school paper, talking to your history/English teachers (or a teacher आप trust) about what आप can do to spread the word, या even going so far as to stage a demonstration.

After all, आप should never allow school to get in the way of your (or your teachers') education.

But as bri-marie said, some schools do have a dress code that includes no symbols. If this dress code is not enforced consistently, well, I see another opportunity for protest.

Depends. If (since this was school) there was a distinct "no religious symbols of any kind" policy and that is upheld for every religious symbol, then no. It was against the dress code/ code of conduct that everyone has had to follow.

However, if it isn't stated, and/or it isn't upheld for every symbol, then, yes, it's wrong. Completely.

EDIT: Also, symbols aren't banned because they are "distracting" (most of the time, there was a case about piercings, but that's off topic) they are banned because they are offensive. For example, a Muslim may find the Christian पार करना, क्रॉस to be offensive to his या her beliefs. Like wise, a Catholic may find a Jewish तारा, स्टार to be offensive ectect.

No it isn't.
आप have the right to wear and practice what आप like, so if he कहा to take it off then आप should have ignored him. If he tried to suspend you, then रिपोर्ट him.
I'm not defending your religion because I don't support it, what I am defending is your right to whatever religion आप want.
