Pull up a chair, pour yourself a coffee and cut a slice of cherry pie as it’s been confirmed the dark supernatural series TWIN PEAKS is to return during early 2016. US cable network Showtime will screen nine new episodes after striking a deal with creators David Lynch and Mark Frost. The surrealist filmmaker Lynch will direct all nine of these episodes which will coincide with the 25th anniversary of the show’s demise after two seasons on ABC in 1990 and 1991 and culminating with the controversial prequel movie TWIN PEAKS: FIRE WALK WITH ME, released in 1992.

These will be set during present day and continue story lines and classic characters established in the second season and where we’re sure to learn a little more about the murder of teenager Laura Palmer. Does that mean we’ll be seeing Kyle MacLachlan return as the FBI Agent Dale Cooper? Time will tell…
