She's the showrunner: people don't write shows on what the fans want, they write what they want. It's their story and they have a set outcome in mind. I should know, I'm a writer myself. But in the context of the show, I think JP put Caroline and Stefan's voices over the sex to show a contradiction. I think it was a plot device, not anything personal. I think she was showing how entirely wrong Caroline and Stefan were about Elena's feelings for Damon being merely because she's sired. I think she was trying to show just how biased and out of the loop these two supposed important people in Elena's life are, on Elena, on who she is now, on what she wants.

I don't believe that Julie was being biased against DE or siding with Stefan. I think the way the scenes were intercut was for dramatic purpose - so it would shock people into thinking that maybe things weren't what they seemed, or to cloud DE with doubt which worked, as fans did/do believe that Elena only loves Damon because she is sired.

Soooo true. I would have preferred an uninterrupted dex scene, but when u look at s4 ep8, u'll appreciate JP more. In my opinion, DE is coming together beautifully. What Epic love story is without it's challenges? It's soooooooo obvious that they just fit; like halves of a whole. The difference in their temperaments is one thing that makes them soooo good together.
