End Of Chapter 20

I finally focused on her eyes, the fear दिखा रहा है everywhere on my face. "Edward," was all I could get out.

I watched as Bella's face tried to figure out what was going on. She took a few gasping breaths before she started to fall, Jacob swearing loudly as he tried to catch her.

He growled quietly at me and started screaming. "What the hell! What did आप do to her? Bella!!" He कहा as he ran her over to the couch.

"Bella? Bella, snap out of it. We have to hurry." I कहा अगला to her head.

"Stay back!" Jacob कहा as he began to shake. He couldn't get this upset अगला to her, if he phased with her this close...I so couldn't deal with this right now.

"Calm down, Jacob Black." I snapped at him. "You don't want to do that so close to her." I warned.

"I don't think I'll have any problems keeping my focus!" He yelled back as he tried to calm himself.

"Alice?" Bella asked, her voice weak. "What happened?"

"I don't know." I cried. "What is he thinking!?!"

Chapter 21

I reached in my bag and pulled my cell out, I noticed my hand was shaking which had never happened before.

First I dialed Edward's phone, but someone answered who spoke Portuguese. I quickly hung up the phone and tried the अगला number.

I dialed Tanya's घर phone, knowing that no one was answering the house phone. I just hoped that someone would answer this line. The phone range twice before Rosalie answered the phone, I wished that it had been anyone else but I didn't have time for this.

"Rose, I need to talk to Carlisle now." I snapped at her.

"Alice, how are you?" She asked.

"I don't have time, where's Carlisle? I need to talk to him NOW." I yelled.

"Oh he's out hunting, I'll have him call आप back..." Rosalie said, her attitude was not what I needed.

"Fine," I interrupted. "As soon as he's back." I said, wishing I could just talk to Carlisle about all of this.

"What is it? I could track him down.."

"No." I interrupted again. "I'll be on a plane. Look, how आप heard anything from Edward?"

"Well, yeah. Actually, I called him a lot, I kept trying until he answered. I thought he had the right to know, आप and Carlisle were wrong. He did want to know the truth." She कहा defensively.

I felt my mouth drop open, my anger rising to a point that I couldn't control it anymore. "Why?" I gasped as I yelled into my phone. "Why would आप do that Rosalie?!"

"I figured that the sooner he knew the truth the sooner our family could be complete again. He ran because he thought he would hurt her, and she is dead. आप ran off to help her father get through this. आप both can come घर now, he will grieve and get over it." She कहा bitterly.

"Well, you're wrong on both counts, though, Rosalie, so that would be a problem, don't आप think." I कहा acidly, my eyes narrowing in anger.

"What do आप mean? Bella's alive?" She whispered.

"Yes, that's right. She's absolutely fine."

"What do आप mean fine? आप saw her JUMP OFF A CLIFF?!" Rosalie yelled.

"I was wrong." I कहा quietly.

"What do आप mean आप were wrong?" She asked.

"It's a long story Rose." I sighed.

"Well, I hope आप realize Edward will be furious when he gets home..." She कहा as I interrupted again.

"But you're wrong about that part, too, that's why I'm calling."

"What was I wrong about?" She asked bitterly. "You don't think Edward's coming home? What do आप think he's going to go and kill himself since he thinks Bella's dead?" She asked mockingly.

"Yes, that's exactly what I saw." I कहा sadly.

"No..he wouldn't be that stupid.." She कहा as her voice cut off. "Oh GOD Alice, I didn't mean to upset him like that...I just wanted him to come home..for आप to come home. Oh...I'm sorry!!" She cried over the phone.

"It's a bit late for that, Rose. Save your remorse for someone who believes it." I कहा as I snapped the phone shut.

I know that the look on my face was not a good thing, I took a deep breath before I turned to look at her again.

"Alice." Bella said.

I didn't think about what she must have heard from that conversation. I couldn't handle all of this right now..I had to get going if I was going to help him.

"Alice, Carlisle is back. He just called before..." She कहा as she tried to explain.

"How long ago?" I asked, fear rising in my tone.

"Half a मिनट before आप showed up." She said.

"What did he say?" I asked as I waited for her response.

"I didn't talk to him." She कहा as her eyes flickered to Jacob.

I turned my gaze to Jacob, I was not wanting to talk to him. There must have been something in my look because I made the guy who was almost double my size flinch.

"He asked for Charlie, and I told him Charlie wasn't here." Jacob said.

"Is that everything?" I demanded.

"Then he hung up on me." Jacob spit back at me, anger making his entire body shiver.

"You told him that Charlie was at the funeral." Bella reminded Jacob.

I turned my head to Bella, my biggest fears becoming real. "What were his exact words?"

"He said, 'He's not here,' and when Carlisle asked where Charlie was, Jacob said, 'At the funeral.'"

I felt myself falling, I stopped myself द्वारा dropping to my knees. A moan escaping my lips because my grief just became real.

"Tell me Alice." Bella whispered from the couch.

"That wasn't Carlisle on the phone." I कहा hopelessly.

"Are आप calling me a liar?" Jacob growled at me.

I did my best to ignore him, I couldn't handle him. I looked right at Bella "It was Edward." I whispered. "He thinks you're dead."

"Rosalie told him I killed myself, didn't she?" Bella asked as she relaxed a little bit.

"Yes," I admitted as my eyes flashed.

How could she be so calm about this, why wasn't she getting upset? What was going on?

"In her defense, she did believe it. They rely on my sight far too much for something that works so imperfectly. But for her to track him down to tell him this! Didn't she realize...or care...?" My voice suddenly full of horror.

"And when Edward called here, he thought Jacob meant my funeral." She कहा as she realized what all this meant. Her nails beginning to dig into the wolf's arm.

"You're not upset?" I whispered, afraid to use my full voice.

"Well, it's really rotten timing, but it will all get straightened out. The अगला time he calls, someone will tell him...what....really." She stopped as she met my gaze.

I felt everything coming to the surface, the panic, horror, and pity for her. She must have seen something there because all the blood left her face and I thought she was going to pass out again.

"Bella, Edward won't call again. He believed her." I whispered.

"He's going to Italy." I कहा sadly.

I know that Edward had told her about the Volturi, the governing family in the vampire family. They were the ones that we all fear, the ones who enforced the rules that they laid out. No one broke their rules and lived..and I think Edward was banking on that.

"NO!" Bella shrieked. "No! No, no, no!! He can't! He can't do that!"

"He made up his mind as soon as your 'friend' confirmed that it was too late to save you." I said.

"But he...he left! He didn't want me anymore! What difference does it make now? He knew I would die sometime!" She yelled.

"I don't think he ever planned to outlive आप द्वारा long." I कहा quietly.

"How dare he!" She screamed as she jumped to her feet.

As she rose, Jacob stood up too, putting himself between Bella and I as if he were going to protect her from me.

"Oh, get out of the way, Jacob!" She yelled as she elbowed him out of the way.

"What can we do?" She begged as she came closer to me. "Can't we call him? Can Carlisle?"

I shook my head. "That was the first thing I tried. He left his phone in a trash can in Rio..someone answered it..."

"You कहा before we had to hurry. Hurry how? Let's do it, whatever it is!" Bella begged.

"Bella, I...I don't think I can ask आप to..." I cut off the sentence as I thought about the options.

Could I really ask her to come with me? Could she come with me to Italy? Could I go and do this alone?? That one I knew was a yes, I could go do it alone...but would he listen to me? No, he wouldn't...he would think I was lying to him to keep him alive. This may be the only way.
