BIG NEWS for fans of The Mortal Instruments. Be prepared to spontaneously combust into a big excitable ball of flames at any second, because author Cassandra Clare has announced that she\'s got a new spin-off series coming your way, based around one of your fave characters ever.
Cassie\'s publishers have revealed that her newest books will explore the life of Magnus Bane - everyone\'s ultimate warlock from the Shadowhunter world. YAS, we\'ve waited so long for this moment.
There\'s one teeny tiny catch to all of this, though, and it\'s not necessarily a bad thing. Apparently the Magnus-based series will be Cassandra\'s first ever adult books series, although we\'re not too sure how they\'ll differ from her usual YA stuff. Bigger words? Longer sentences? More detailed smut? Yes plz.
Magnus\'s new stories are set to be a trilogy, and although she released The Bane Chronicles short stories back in 2014, Cassie\'s decided that it\'s time to delve even deeper into his mysterious past.
books, Magnus Bane has emerged as one of the most fun and fascinating characters for me to bring to life," Clare says in her press release.
"He\'s always had a lot of secrets — there are so many things we don\'t know about Magnus, from the story of his first love to the secrets of his parentage, to the beginning of his relationship with Alec. All those are things I was able to touch on in
, but I\'m excited to dig in even more deeply in these three volumes devoted to Magnus, his past, his future, and his present."
The first book, co-written by Wesley Chu, will be published in hardback in November 2017.
