Firstly, thanx for adding this question, it is really something I ponder over many a time, the least I have is a theory. Secondly... umm... rephrase the सवाल please.. when आप say 'sooner', it seems like at one point of time, he has really taken her as his bride. आप could have used the words 'said woman' instead. Now my answer- In the beginning, Kouga had all intentions of making Kagome his woman, but he realized that she had feelings for इनुयाशा to a certain degree. So, for the time being, he left it to the passage of time. He'd thought that if he'd try, he could win her दिल द्वारा his oh-so-sweet flattering words and vows, so he took it slow and steady, as in the anime, he would make visits every now and then, flirting with her, and making इनुयाशा envious: another reason for doing so. But he realized that Kagome's feelings for इनुयाशा had grown into something much more, something that broken would break her too. So, he sort of gave up on her and his usual motive of talking to her was annoying the temperamental hanyou. And if आप have seen the episode in which Kikyou dies (in the Final Act, that is), Kouga asks इनुयाशा to take care of her. So, he loves her albeit she didn't return his feelings, and lets her be with inuyasha
