IDK! The JSNI seems worse for DE if it turned out differently, but the "I love you" scene seems better for DE if that turned out differently.

If Jeremy had died then NO WAY in hell Elena would forgive Damon & If Jeremy never have interrupted them, then I don't think anything would have change between them because Elena had already told Damon "it will always be Stefan" before Jeremy even interrupted!
If Damon hadn't erase Elena's memory.. Things would be way different with these two. A good different.
