It was called MouseInfo.com - PART 1: Inside the Walt डिज़्नी एनीमेशन Studios' BIG HERO 6
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
PART 1: Inside the Walt Disney Animation Studios\' BIG HERO 6
MouseInfo was invited to be part of a whirlwind media tour and introduction to the upcoming
BIG HERO 6 at the Walt Disney Animation Studios in Burbank, CA. We spent several hours inside the studio learning about several of the intricate nuances that seem to be shaping up into a hot new superhero franchise.
Our day was split into several segments giving us small sneak peeks into the various facets that all must come together to create the finalized project. Hundreds of people are working together to get the film ready for its
It was truly fascinating to see just a small glimpse of what goes on behind the doors of that sorcerer hat building and for me it was my first time getting a chance to walk the halls of the place where some of Disney\'s newest animated features were (and are) being made.
Our day began in one of the studio\'s screening rooms labeled simply: THEATER.
As with the proper theatrical experience of seeing an animated short before the feature release, we got our introduction to FEAST, the charming animated short about a Boston Terrier with a voracious appetite. You can read more about our thoughts on this short short
Our appetite was piqued and then we got into the main course which was approximately 30 minutes of screen time for the new flick. The film was not yet completed by that point so scenes were in various stages of completion including some with just storyboard sketches accompanied by the voice over tracks.
We were walked through the first Act of the film byDirectors
Don Hall and Chris Williams as well as Executive Producer, Roy Conli. Not too shabby a way to be introduced to a film! The premise for the story was laid out with accompanying clips. As we watched, we got to see principle character Hiro Hamada and his Personal Homecare Companion sidekick Baymax. Following a personal tragedy, boy-genius and inventor Hiro embarks on a journey to stop the evil masked man Yokai.
Speaking later with the trio of filmmakers in a more intimate setting, we got some more in depth insights about the project.
A theme that we\'d hear consistently throughout the day from all those involved with the project is that there is excitement and joy throughout the Animation Studio and that is very evident even to me as I walked through the halls. It\'s almost effervescent, you can sense the pride and enthusiasm almost as if it was wafting through corridors.
Disney Animation is back and the new group of talented people at the helm are excited to lead the charge and innovate all while keeping reverent to the amazing historical legacy of the brand. Part of reason for that culture consistently pointed back to the same soruce several times and it not-unsurprisingly was
John Lasetter. As much as the fanboys online love the man, he seems to have fans just as big on the inside as well.
Chris Williams spoke to the impact of Lasetter musing about an incident that had happened just the day before. After viewing a piece of test footage, Lasetter was visibly moved emotionally... but then immediately after he had two notes on what he\'d just watched.
It\'s this type of creative energy that seems to be feeding the talented crop of story writers, visual artists, animators and everyone else involved in the project. Being able to get vested deeply in the material but then be able to step away and analyze it more critically from the the less emotional and more calculated business perspective.
And the end results of this culture have proven successful. With FROZEN and TANGLED as some of the most recent successes to come from this studio, it\'s exciting to see the evolution of the studio.
Will it all boil down to another success when
BIG HERO 6 comes to theaters on November 7? Time will tell but what will be certain is that what Disney Animation studios is putting out will be something that has had a lot of care, a lot of passion, and a heaping dose of reinvigorated Disney magic invested into it.
