‘The Mentalist’ Finale Episode ‘The Crimson Hat’: When Will Red John Die Already?

"The Crimson Hat," the finale episode of “The Mentalist,” is again centered around Red John. The episode was humorous and exciting, but needs a new arc. Red John was fun the first time, but he's getting old. When is that guy going to die?

Of course the season finale HAD to be about Red John: that's the reason for Jane being in the CBI & the entire show. I hate it when shows reach their natural conclusions of the plot & instead of finishing properly, be it good OR bad, they reinvent (move the goalposts) new plots to carry on: losing all of the things that made that show great in the first place.

This 4th. Season, as a whole, lacked a bit of cohesion due to all the stand-alone episodes mid-season so, the finale, maybe, lost some impact? The 1st. 3 season's episodes were a lot more cohesive to the Red John plot &, at first, it was a nice change to have stand-alone episodes but, there were too many in-a-row & cohesion was a bit lost.

Then again, maybe last season's finale was SO big, no matter WHAT they did this season, it couldn't be topped?
