Maddie could hardly hear Danny now. The pain was too much and her head hurt and her vision swam. The blood from the deep cut on her head covered face , and she couldn't stand anymore. She crumpled to the ground, the chair she had used to stand falling with her, that possible concussion and loss of blood from the cuts taking its toll. She struggled to stay conscious.

Lethe groaned. She needed the Peacekeepers to come...when were they coming? Her vision started to swim and she whimpered.

Maddie moaned from the pain, rolling to her side, starting to curl up in a ball, beginning to lose consciousness. She needed the peacekeepers to come.

Danny layed May down on his bed. He pushed her hair out of her eyes and kissed her cheek.
"You're going to be ok." he held her hand and whispered I'm sorry as she passed out. May looked fragile and inncoent, her worry lines disappeared. "It's all my fault" he said as he left his room.

It was Davey's first day as a peacekeper, and he was already being called to deal with a fight. He was sent up with three other people from his squad. It was bad. There was blood everywhere, and two girls on the ground. There would be serious repercussions. A man he recognized, Tolly, picked up one of the girls, and Julis picked up the other. They carried them down to the hospital.

Maddie's head lolled practically lifelessly as she was carried to the hospital, unconscious.

May lost consciousness, but she wasn't worried. She knew Danny would get her the help she needed.

Lethe sighed in relief as the Peacekeepers started to carry her down to the hospital. She instantly let go and passed out, now that she knew someone would take care of her.

Tolly looked down at Maddie. She was a flithy insect in his eyes. The hospital doors spread open and cold air washed over him. He carried Maddie to a surgical room, plopped her on the table and called the surgeons. They rushed over to Maddies room and started sewing up her face. They treated her cuts and stitched up her nose. They sent her to a hospital bed, set her up to an IV and gave her medicine for her concussion.

Julis walked Lethe to the hospital, following Tolly. She looked down at Lethe with warm eyes, she understood fights. She set her onto a surgical table and got to work. She, herself, was a surgeon, and this was her hospital. She stitched her lip, and put a creme on her black eye. She looked at Lethe's nose and realised it was broken, therefore the bleeding. The bridge of her nose was completely crooked, so she corrected it as well. She laid her in a hospital bed, hooked her up to an IV and gave her extreme bruise medication.

Danny went back to the cafeteria and boiled some tea for May. He set it next to his bed and waited for her to wake up.

Maddie lay in the hospital bed, still unconscious.

Lethe woke up in her hospital bed a few hours later, feeling maybe a little better, but barely. She still ached all over and hurt everywhere, but her face felt better and her stomach only hurt when she touched it or laid on it. Maddie was in the bed next to Lethe and she turned away from her, not wanting to look at anyone who had any kind of meaning to her right now.

Maddie stayed out for a good long while. Soon she opened her eyes a little , feeling only slightly better but not much. Everything hurt really.

May slowly woke up, feeling a little more rested. Air had been returned to her lungs, and now all that really hurt was her shoulder. She touched it and winced with pain, seeing Danny next to her. "Danny...hi." She smiled weakly. "I think my shoulder's dislocated...would you mind fixing it for me?" She leaned up against Danny, wincing slightly. "You just need to forcefully pop it back into place...don't be alarmed if I scream, it's just going to hurt a lot, but once it's back in it'll feel a lot better." Se licked her dry lips.

Danny nodded. He was so glad she woke up.
"Are you ready?" he took her shoulder and pushed.

May nodded and screamed out with pain as he pushed it back in. After it was done though her shoulder instantly stopped burning and she rotated it around. It was just a little sore now. She smiled to him, sitting down on the bed. "Thanks. I'm good now."

He kissed her on the forehead. "I have to go speak with Maddie and Lethe..." he said solemnly. His face grew dark.

May nodded. "Ok." Before he left she added, "Danny, don't be too harsh with them...it was an accident."

"It doesn't matter." he said angrily. He headed downstairs. He left the building to go to the hospital. Danny noticed the clock: 10:00 A.M, in two hours he would be on live TV. He didn't know if he was allowed to be out here, but he had to be. When he entered the hospital he walked through a set of hallways until he got to one room. When he opened the door he saw Lethe and Maddie, in hospital beds.

Maddie lay on her hospital bed, hooked up to the IV and such. She looks over as he walked in.

Lethe heard him come in, but he didn't look. She was too ashamed. To embarrassed, to petrified with what she had done. She didn't really remember all of it, and in all honesty, she didn't want to. She didn't want to have to face it...she just wanted it all to go away.

Danny was slightly shocked by how sick they looked, but he got over it when he thought of May. How had he let her get so close? He didn't know who to start with first.
"Do you even know what you did, to that little girl?"

Maddie knew he would be mad but she didn't care of what he thought any more. She didn't care. The fight had taken out whatever anger she had and all feelings for Danny. Now, he was just another competitor in the Games. Maddie looked at him and said hoarsely, " I didn't hit her, so."

Lethe held back tears. Everything was just so broken. She hated Maddie for putting all the blame on her, but in all truth, she deserved all the blame. She let tears fall down and cringed as she reached up to wipe them away and accidentally touched her black eye. Please, go away Danny She thought. Please Danny, I'm sorry, just leave... She was so ashamed and tired and broken....she didn't want to see him right now, and she definitely didn't want to know how badly she had hurt that little girl from 6.

Danny sighed heavily. He looked at Maddie and knew she was gone. She didn't have any sort of feelings for him anymore and he would have to win her back. As for Lethe, he could see she was hurting, and she would probably never forgive herself. But she wouldn't be mad at Danny, he saw that too.
"Maddie. I need to ttalk to you... alone ." he got an idea. He saw a wheelchair and picked Maddie up out of bed.

Maddie winced as he picked her up. She was already mentally preparing herself for what he could say."Alone,?"

Danny nodded. He set Maddie in the wheelchair and wheeled her into the hallway. He got on his knees so they were eye-to eye.
"I choose you Maddie. Not Lethe."

Maddie met his eyes, not with the soft grey/blue eyes they used to be but with hard questioning eyes. "How do I know that this isn't just a game, Danny? To tear us both apart and for you to come out on top? You saw what happened in the dining hall. And if you're playing a game with Lethe and I.. well, you're getting what you wanted. "

Danny laughed lightly.
"Oh Maddie, it's not what I want, if that's what I wanted then I wouldn't have stopped your fight. I don't want Lethe, Maddie. You saw what she does to people, to May, and I don't need that much crazy." Danny looked Maddie straight in the eyes. His eyes were bright and promising.

Everything in her screamed not to trust him still. She had already been hurt over him, she just didn't want to put her heart out on the edge for him again just to fall in love and be hurt. "Danny, I... i just don't know any more.. "

Danny lifted her head up so she was looking straight in his eyes. He pushed some hair out of her face. And he kissed her. Yes, this was his way of dealing things when he was in doubt,and he hoped she felt something. His lips were warm and his kiss was real.

Maddie really did like him, but she just couldn't do it anymore. She couldn't be in love with someone when they're both facing death. She started to kiss him back, which proved that she really did care for him but she pulled away,"Danny.."

Danny pulled back. He could see she cared about him, but it just wasn't going to work out. So he stood up and kissed Maddie on the forhead.
"I'll bring you back in when I'm done talking to Lethe."
When he looked Maddie in the eyes he gave her a real look of pain. Sure, he might not have felt it, but it looked real. He pushed his hair to the side and went to talk to Lethe.

Maddie just nodded, silently.

(Ok, so I wrote this whole long thing and then my computer misfunctioned and lost it all so I'm not gonna write it out again. Basically Lethe realized she was being an idiot for letting herself fall this far and hard for Danny when they're in a Hunger Games, and so in a huge struggle (because she's really in pain) she made herself stand up and then walk to the door. It really hurts and she's limping, but she's just toughening herself up again so she can be strong enough to win these Games, both mentally and physically. So when she finally gets to the door, Danny comes in and then she starts talking to him. She's being a jerk on purpose to show him that she's stronger than him and that she's the better tribute. It's all because she's lost confidence in herself, and she needs to believe once again that she really is the better tribute. She's also doing it to make it clear that she can't and won't love him anymore. So that's where I'll pick up.)

Lethe, breathing deeply, started to talk to Danny. Her voice was unwavering and although it took a lot of energy, she made it stay strong. She molded her features to be firm and just slightly mocking. "Danny, you're a nice boy, and I know that you'll find someone who loves you..." She paused and thought for a second, before saying, "Unless you die first. But the point is, I can't be with you, and I'm sorry about that, but you're just too nice to live through these Games! I know that probably hurts you to hear, but I need to get back home....and I can't do that if I'm constantly protecting you because you're too weak." She put a hand on his chest. "I'm sorry to do this...I really am. But you should go, be with Maddie." Lethe smiled with fake kindness. "You know, if she even wants you anymore." It was hurting Lethe a lot to say these things to Danny, but she fought the hurt down. She WOULD live, and if she had to break down Danny first, then she that's what she would do. She was strong, not weak. Not anymore. "Anyway Danny, talk to you later...and just so you know," She says this next part laced with obvious sarcasm. "It's not you...it's me." She laughs slightly and winks. "See you around, Danny." Then she steps out the door, making an effort not to limp in front of him, and to wait until she got around the corner to continue her limp-walking normally.

Danny laughed. It was a chuckle at first, but it turned into a huge, roaring laughter. Danny nodded his head slightly as he chuckled and walked out of the hospital. He walked lightly up the stairs, and continued laughing until he got to his room.
"Hey May." there was a huge grin on Danny's face.

May stared at him...he was acting kind of weird. "Danny...what happened in the hospital?"

"Just something so great I couldn't have dreamed for better." he sat down in a chair facing May.
"They both ditched me!" he grinned widley. "No more stupid love games, now I can be me in the arena, no suave, gentleman Danny."

May grinned back, sitting up. "Really? That's amazing!" Suddenly a thought crossed her mind...had she been part of his Games too? And now that he wasn't playing the game anymore...did she even matter to him still? Or was she just another tribute now? "Danny...I'm not saying you have to alliance with me or anything like that, but...are you still going to be looking out for me now, or no? It's ok if you don't want to, I can understand that, I just need to know."

Now Danny really laughed. He laughed harder than he had before. He picked May up and twirled her around.
"I will always look out for you little girl." And then a thought crossed his mind. May reminded him of his little sister. The one who was killed. That was the only reason he seemed to want to look out for her. That was the only reason he felt like he knew her.
"Always." he said.

May laughed as he spun her around, so happy to know that at least she was real. When he set her down she smiled up at him and said, "Good. I'm happy to know that." Suddenly May's District Escort, Patrick, opened Danny's door and came in. "May, what are you doing here?! It's time to meet your prep team for interviews, come on!" May looked up at Danny as Patrick started to drag her towards the hallway. "Um, I'll see you at the interviews Danny! Good luck!"

"You too May!" For the first time Danny felt truly alive. He heard a knock on his door, when he opened it it was his trainer, Marcus, as if on cue.
"Danny, head down to prep." the gruff voice said. Danny nodded and headed downstairs. He punched the number 1 on the elevator and met his prep team as they led him to their building.
"Danny! You're hair looks so ratty!" yelled Donnica Do Randal, his hair stylist. Danny chuckled lightly, he missed his prep team.
"This way, hun." another woman said as she led him to the cold table.
"Now, strip." Donnica said in a sing-song voice. Danny easily pulled off his clothes and threw them in a pile. He lay on the freezing cold table, completely comfoftable.
"OH MY....THAT 6 PACK!" Yelled Donnica and they all laughed. Danny sat through absolute torture as they stared waxing facial hair and chest hair. They submurged him in an orange foamy bathtub and then a gross smelling green liquidy tub.
"Herree we are Dannnyyyy boyyy." Donnica said in a pleasant voice as she made him dress in a thin paper robe and sit in a spinny chair. She dipped his hair in water and shampooed and conditioned so many times that Danny lost count. She finally started snipping and drying and straightening and then wetting.
"Here you are dearie." she said as she spun Danny around. Danny looked in the mirror. His hair was shorter, and apparently when he hadn't been paying attention because she had treated a thin cut on his cheek.
"It looks.... great Donnica. Really." He looked her in the eyes. Donnica's eyes watered and she led Danny to Jacob, his stylist. Jacob smiled pleasantly.
"Danny, you look nice." he handed Danny a simple outfit, and Danny put it on. When he looked in the mirror he was shocked. He was dressed in a simple suit. But the suit somehow framed his muscular and lean body. It was a simple black color and it made his eyes pop. Danny smiled lightly, and was shocked to see what he looked like when he smiled, he never had before. His eyes seemed to change color when he smiled, and his smile was so genuine it could brighten a room. It promised love and honor. And then it hit Danny. No wonder Lethe and Maddie loved him, he looked so genuine.

Maddie was soon moved to her designers, they worked quickly to hide the bruises but they left the cuts to show. She was dressed in a sweetheart red dress(above)with studs around the waist with a beautiful necklace (Above too) and black combat boots with a leather jacket and a camouflage bow with her dirty blonde hair down.

Lethe hobbled into her prep room, collapsing on the table. "Woah!" He prep team all gasped. "Jesus, what happened to you?" Lethe told them she had fallen down some stairs and they all instantly nodded and got straight to work. They did a wonder on her face- you could barely even see the discoloration or swelling. And once they got her to a semblance of normality, they began to apply makeup. The made her eyes have what looked like purple wings, and the highlighted her lips and paled up her skin. They warned her not to touch her face to often, or it would ruin their work.
A few minutes later they left and her stylist came in. He began getting her dress ready, but while he did, he talked to her. "While you're up there, just try not to stagger too much. Keep on your feet, and keep your emotions together. You'll look amazing, but you'll also have to act it." Lethe nodded.
Eventually he brought out her dress. It was a beautiful form fitting dress, bright red and shiny. She put it on, and admired her self in the mirror. Her blue hair was curled into big ringlets and then put up. It all looked very fancy.

Nick had a suit on, his blue tie loosely tied around his neck, he looked very chill and relaxed.

"HERE!" "OVER THERE!" Ceaser clicked his ,microphone onto his coat pocket and took a seat on stage. He told a few warming jokess to the crowd to warm them up. This year his color was electric green, and he looked wonderful.
"Now to the stage Maddie Rodgers, from District 5! Come on out Maddie!" The crowd cheered.

Maddie walked out onto stage,smiling and waving. She looked absolutely stunning and tough with her leather jacket and combat boots. She took a seat with a smile.

"Woah!" Ceaser crowed. "I hope I don't get you mad!" The crowd laughed and whistled.

Maddie smiled, laughing lightly. "Thanks. "

Ceaser immidiatley realised that he was working with somebody who had the same social experience as a dead fish. "So, tell us about yourself Maddie. What do youi like to do? Do you have any siblings? Tell us everything" The crowd ooed.
