Well, Rowling herself said Snape wasnt a hero. Brave? Yes. A hero? No.

I was so angry about the way DH2 changed the ending so that Harry never vindicated Severus in front of everyone.

I don't think Severus was ever given the recognition in the wizarding world he deserved. Albus Dumbledore got this huge send off, and they couldn't even revisit Severus and allow for any ceremony, any recognition of his sacrifice or repentance.

And JKR tends to fluctuate on her persepective of Severus Snape depending on where she is and the mood she's in I think...I've seen different statements by her in regards to Severus Snape.

Ah well. He will always be my hero.

And maybe I'm wrong here, but J.K. Rowling seems to change her mind about Snape whenever she wanted to. He deserved more than he got in the end...
