I remember visiting this website once...
It was called Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling, Christian Bale Team for New Movie | Variety
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
Following the success of “Moneyball,” Brad Pitt and his Plan B shingle have assembled an all-star cast for the next adaptation of a Michael Lewis bestseller.
that Pitt, Christian Bale and Ryan Gosling have come on board to star in “The Big Short,” Paramount and Plan B’s adaptation “The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine,” which Adam McKay is writing and directing.
Lewis’ nonfiction tome tells the story of the build-up of the housing and credit bubble during the 2000s that led to the financial crisis of 2007-2010. Paramount had no comment.
Pitt will produce with DeDe Gardner through their Plan B banner. Production start date is unknown.
The book follows several key people who played a role in creating the disastrous credit bubble. The feature adaptation will likely feature several A-list actors who have similiar-sized roles, similar to the cast of “Traffic” or “The Counselor.”
As with “Moneyball,” Pitt has been very passionate about getting this adaptation onto the bigscreen.
His Plan B company has built a reputation for serious dramas that tackle important issues, with “12 Years a Slave” landing last year’s best picture Oscar and “Selma” deep in the Oscar race this year.
Pitt, who is repped by CAA and Brillstein Entertainment, was last seen in “Fury.” The WME-repped Bale was last seen in “Exodus: Gods and Kings” and will shoot the Travis McGee pic “The Deep Blue Goodby” this spring.
Gosling just wrapped production on the Warner Bros. thriller “The Nice Guys.” He is repped by Anonymous Content and LBI Entertainment.

Someone please save Christian Bale from his movie choices. The whitewashed Exodus and now this “let’s glorify the white guys who ruined the economy” movie? Oh my god. Growing up, I thought he was so much better than this. But nope. He’s turning out to be just as vapid as Brad Pitt and Ryan Gosling. So disappointing.
This book definitely doesn’t glorify the people who ruined the economy. It shows a lot of the incompetence and corruption involved (and is also a very good book!)
Yeah, but you see, when you cast Brad Pitt and Ryan Gosling to play the “bad” guys, it automatically glorifies the bad guys. If you want to see a good movie about the recession and the corruption that led to it, watch the documentary “Inside Job.”
Likely it won’t be historically accurate maybe at least it can be entertaining
I find these films with ensemble casts not very intriguing and ultimately always disappointing. “American Hustle” is an exception. Though not a masterpiece, it’s so much better than, say, “The counselor”
Sounds amazing and this is only based the tremendous talent associated with the project. I can’t imagine this not being bigger than Leo DiCaprio’s WOLF OF WALL STREET.
So we’re going to use Hollywood to try to explain structured finance, securitized products, credit default swaps, and leveraged finance to the masses? This should be interesting…
They may do a better job than the media has. They will have 2-3 hours of audience attention focused on this one subject. Possibly a much better venue for describing a complex topic.
can’t wait line up is fantastic and please please tell the story of that back stabbing piece of BS white collar crime somebody needs to expose those murderers because yes they cost peoples lives with their mortgage crisis for profit game
The Nice Guys isn’t wrapped yet. They are still filming for 2 weeks in LA
Not in a million years. Think they’ll talk about how Bill Clinton pushed the subprime mortgage, how the Dems pressured banks into giving inner city blacks subprime mortgages or else be accused of racism; how most of the defaults were in Detroit and Atlanta. NEVER GONNA HAPPEN. McKay is a Dem activist.
Have you read the book? That’s what they’ll be working from and should answer your questions as to what they’ll be addressing/working from.
Think about how bush and dick ruined the American Economy, raised taxes, AND let terrorists attack America on 9/11.
and I thought Fury had a great cast… HOLY SH!T!!!
The first draft of McKay’s novel can be read over the closing credits of The Other Guys – no joke.
