This isn’t the end of Emma’s journey. It’s only the beginning.

I remember visiting this website once...
It was called Something I noticed at the end of the recap... | An Unconventional Fairy Tale...
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
We got a throwback to Operation Mongoose, and a very particular scene from that episode- the scene where Henry finds Emma and frees her from the tower her parents locked her away in (while she was wearing a very OOC dark blue dress they had chosen for her).
Metaphorically speaking, this is representative of Emma’s parents trapping her within their societal expectations of gender. We’ve seen this pattern (particularly from Snow) from the very beginning of the series, and it’s only progressed further since Emma began her relationship with Hk. Snow wants Emma to have all the happiness she has with Charming, so, out of ignorance, she forces her ideals on her daughter thinking she’s guiding her to a happier place. She thinks she’s doing the right thing by Emma, but she’s turning her into someone she’s not at her own detriment- she’s turning her into a mirror of herself.
The shots that follow are in reference to the wedding in 6x20. We see Regina and Henry at the ceremony- they represent what Emma’s heart truly desires, the family she wishes to have…
And then we have these shots of Emma and Hk- looking back at Snow and Charming and framed perfectly between them.
Some people might read this as a good thing- that these two characters are meant to represent the new Snowing, but just look at Emma’s face. This is not the face of a woman who is finally getting her happy ending- this is the face of a woman who is living to appease her parents’ dreams for her. This is the face of a woman who has made it her responsibility to give people the happy endings they all want- and Hk wanted her. Now compare that to the look on Hk’s face as he smiles back at the proud parents- she’s finally his, and he knows that. The three of them are the barriers to Emma’s true happiness. Hk represents Emma’s false happy ending. He’s safe because she knows he’ll never leave her. She doesn’t have to keep fearing that she’ll never find someone who loves her enough to keep her. She doesn’t have to fear being abandoned as she’s been so many times before. Even if what she has now isn’t True Love, it’s at least a means to an end- she has a life that is normal and is a reflection of what her parents now have. Snow and Charming are the very embodiment of True Love- they’re the traditional fairy tale couple. Emma aspires to have the happiness they do, the love they share, so she does everything in her power to mirror that. But as we’ve seen time and time again, C$ are only paralleled to contrast them. They’re not True Love- they’re anti-True Love. This is not Emma’s happy ending. She is still running.
I truly believe we’ll see this relationship come to an end. I don’t know what A&E’s plans are for next season, but I can say with full confidence that this isn’t the end of Emma’s journey. It’s only the beginning. Because as we saw in operation Mongoose, Henry is the key to freeing Emma from this prison. He is the new saviour. And just as in season one, I believe the saviour will bring his parents together in the end by waking them up- by helping them see what their hearts already know…
I'm beyond repair at this point so what's the harm in still having hope?
