How many guidance counselors do american high schools have? (Read विवरण first)

I am लेखन a fictional story and wondering how many there are usually are, what qualifications required for the job, and whether a husband and wife could do it at the same school. This is just so I can make the characters seem और realistic.

Well, my elementary school had 1, my middle school had 2 (1 for 7th graders, 1 for 8th graders) and my high school had 4 (1 for each grade level). But it probably varies at different schools.
