Madonna is an #unapologeticbitch for using images of famous \'rebels\' in barbed wire to promote her new album .. \'niether [sic] a crime or an insult or racist!\'
Madonna has apologised (sort of) for offending people after using fan-made images of famous martyrs from Jesus Christ to Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela with their faces bound in wire to promote her new album.
She also posted multiple similar photos of herself - so although she claims not to have compared herself with them, her marketing campaign clearly links her to them.
She continued with the same polarising marketing tactic on Sunday when she tweeted a similar image of Princess Diana – with the image doctored to look as though it is wrapped in black wire – with the words "anyone who fights for freedom is a #rebelheart".
Rebel Heart is the name of Madonna\'s 13th studio album, part of which was leaked prior to Christmas.
A controversial doctored image of Martin Luther King has been used by Madonna to promote her new album.
Madonna followed up Sunday\'s Princess Diana tweet with an image of herself lying in the snow giving the middle finger to the camera with the hashtag #unapologeticbitch.
Unapologetic Bitch is also the title of a song on the album.
During the Rebel Heart campaign Madonna has also shared via Twitter and Instagram similar images of Frida Kahlo, Jean Michel-Basquiat, Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, Marilyn Monroe, John Lennon her mother (who died at 31 from breast cancer), Skrillex, Miley Cyrus and Homer Simpson. And several of herself; the implication being she shares having a "rebel heart" with all of them.
Her defiant \'apology\', posted in between photos a of a family snowboarding trip was littered with errors, and suggested she was humbled that people were comparing her to those in the images. It read: "I\'m sorry I\'m not comparing my self to anyone I\'m admiring and acknowledging there [sic] Rebel Hearts This is niether [sic] a crime or an insult or racist! ... Am I saying I am them NO I\'m saying they are Rebel Hearts too. And I didn\'t do it My fans did And I just re posted those photos My fans aren\'t racist either If they put me in the same category as these other people Thank you. I\'m very flattered and I hope one day to live up to 1 100th of what those people accomplished." - Madonna"
Ever since the leak she has been busily trying to regain the initiative around her latest music, with the provocative if thematically-confused series of #rebelheart images leading her social media campaign. The official release of Rebel Heart is not until March.

You are so right Kim, You get the feeling she considers herself right up there with a few of those she mentioned regardless of her saying "If I was 1/100th of these people blah blah blah" The disappointing thing to me is the public\'s fascination with celebrity. They are just normal people who have had an amazing stroke of luck to go with their talent. One of the Hemsworth brothers said in an interview that he feels blessed and humbled to be doing what he does. I think he may have even said in an interview that he wasn\'t even the best actor in his acting class and was just suited for the role based on looks more than anything. Very refreshing, humbling and he will have a long career in the industry as directors, producers etc are getting sick of the unreliability of prima donna\'s.
Well, she is a freedom fighter. Always has been and always will be. The photos are fan made art that she has shared, so what\'s the big deal? I think she has earned her place in history alongside these legends fighting for freedom.
