Interview with Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis on the Once Upon A Time Episode 100 Red Carpet
A week ago, KSiteTV was part of a group of journalists who braved the Vancouver cold to celebrate 100 episodes of ABC’s
The 100th episode airs in eight days, on March 6, and between now and then, you can look forward to daily posts – including some video! – from the cast and producers we were able to talk to there.
The spotlight falls first, though, on the two people who were there at the very beginning – “master storytellers” Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis – and in the interest of nostalgia, we started by getting confirmation that “Emma” wasn’t always “Emma” – in the first drafts of the
script, her name was “Anna.” Ultimately, the name didn’t clear, and it’s probably just as well as the show had a famous Disney “Anna” in their
story arc. And, of course, on the subject of names, the Evil Queen is “Regina” because Regina actually means “queen.”
Looking to the future, there will be a lot for fans to look forward to in Episode 100, which is titled “Souls of the Departed.”
“There are some returns of characters that we love dearly, that we’re really excited for the fans to see,” Horowitz tells us. “I’m excited for them to see Cora again, and Pan, and the Magic Mirror,” Kitsis adds. Season 5B will hearken back to the show’s early days, as well.
“It really feels like Season One again,” Kitsis says. “There’s a really Season One vibe on purpose, because we wanted to honor the five years of the show.” Horowitz is most excited for fans to see the emotionality of what the characters will be facing in the Underworld.
And finally, on the subject of characters from the past who inhabited strange places… might we ever have resolution for some of the characters from
“You know what, one day. Because one day, we are going to do the episode for all the people who ask about it, and then when we do that, they could all complain they didn’t see [the characters they wanted],” Kitsis laughs.
