In the comics and cartoons, Aquaman is famously one of the most Aryan characters around, with pale skin, blond hair and blue eyes.  So casting Polynesian actor Jason Momoa as the iconic superhero is a bit of a switch.  The former ‘Game of Thrones’ star makes his debut next weekend in ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice’ but will really step into the limelight in next year’s ‘Justice League – Part One’, which will be directed by Zack Snyder and begins filming next month.
Superman, a.k.a. Henry Cavill, has kept us updated with his physical training to portray the Man of Steel in the super team-up movie.  Now Momoa has, perhaps inadvertently, also given a hint as to what to expect of his depiction of Aquaman.
While out drinking on St. Patrick’s Day, the actor posted a selfie of himself and his personal trainer, enjoying some Guinness on Instagram with Momoa sporting blond hair.
Sometimes you got to train your trainers.  He fixes me I fix him.  #guinnesstime
Only one official image of Momoa in the role has been released, but it was basically in black and white:
There does appear to be some lightness to his hair.  Plus there have been a few toys released that hint at lighter hair:
Not the bright yellow that the comic book character is usually shown as sporting, but since Momoa isn’t Caucasian, that isn’t surprising.  And most likely, the character’s look will evolve between films.
After debuting in ‘Batman V Superman’, Aquaman makes a splash in ‘Justice League – Part One’ and then swims away in his own solo movie in 2018.
‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, and Jesse Eisenberg hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
