हे Hulis!! Here is part three of my fairy tale. I hope आप all enjoy it. As I have कहा before, it's a little different, but it's been fun to color outside of the lines for once.
I realize that there are a lot about the sisters in this story rather than only about Hugh and Lisa. I did that onb purpose for the conflict of it all. I wanted to put Huli in a different world.
I hope आप enjoy and thank आप again to Ms. Bea for her editing skills as always ; )
The grandfather clock in Lisa’s रसोई, रसोईघर struck three bells for the घंटा of three am. She immediately rose from her bed. She shook her head. She was still tired, why on earth did she suddenly sit up? Lisa quickly realized she was no longer in control of her own actions. She dressed herself, brushed her beautiful, long hair and headed out the door to a big house on the edge of town, overlooking the sea and to the garden inside of its iron gates. With no explanation she fell to her knees and began to pluck weeds from the dark soil beneath her. She wanted to scream, but her voice couldn’t make the sound. Her knees ached and tears streamed down her face. Her faithful dog had followed her, unaware that she was here against her will, he whimpered at the sign of his mistress’s sadness.
Mavis stood in the window of her रसोई, रसोईघर and looked down on the woman whom she had just made a slave to her, to her garden. She smiled to herself. He spell was obviously working as she had cast it.
Melvina descended the stairs and headed to the रसोई, रसोईघर for her morning coffee and biscuits.
“Mavis, what is so interesting in the garden this morning?” Melvina asked as she stirred her cream into her coffee with no hands, just a simple nod.
“Why, our new gardener has my attention today, Dear Sister. We’ll see how beautiful she looks after night upon night of tending to our फूल and herbs.”
Melvina nearly dropped the cup she had just taken in her hand as she looked out and saw in the quiet darkness Lisa on her knees, fingering the dirt and discarding weeds as she found them. Now she knew what she had felt last night was indeed what she suspected, her sisters wrath. Melvina was the older of the two, but she knew enough to gage her अगला words with care and caution. For Mavis was not a witch to contend with when she had placed her mind towards something, whether good या in this case, bad.
“Why Mavis, आप know I enjoy tending to my garden myself. There is really no need for a gardener now, is there?” She arched her eyebrow and waited for whatever response might be coming.
Mavis whipped her head quickly and कहा with a hiss, “This is none of your affair Melvina. Maybe आप are content with our lives, but I am simply NOT. Besides, आप have yet to see the rest of my surprise.”
Melvina watched out the window as the light of dawn broke over the hills. The large mantel clock struck the घंटा of 6:00am and shortly thereafter Hugh appeared on the trail that led to the sister’s house. As he reached the garden gate, Lisa rose from her knees and walked towards the greenhouse inside the garden. Their eyes met and she saw the same look of confusion that filled her as it crossed his face as well. They tried to reach out a hand to each other as they passed one another, but they could try as the might and yet, did not touch. An unseen power would not allow them even this small comfort. Lisa opened her mouth to yell, to speak, to say anything she could but as if some sort of horrible nightmare, no sound would leave her lips. Her legs and feet kept moving with no effort on her part.
She opened the door to the greenhouse and went inside. The door locked behind her. She looked out and saw Hugh doing what she just had. Her mind struggled to understand what was happening. Tears fell like rain down her cheeks. Before she knew it she was lying on large pillar of cement in the middle of the greenhouse where she curled up in agony and drifted off to sleep.
Many hours later a ruckus roused Lisa from her slumber and a tall, heavy set woman with dark brown hair pulled back in a twist approached her with a tray of sandwiches and tea.
“I would guess you’re hungry after all of that work.” She spoke as she set the tray अगला to Lisa.
Lisa looked at her through eyes that were cloudy from sleep. She was hungry indeed, but if this was one of the Witches, she thought it best not to eat what she was offered.
As if she had read her mind, Melvina spoke, “don’t worry, it’s perfectly good food. Just because my sister has a wild hair doesn’t mean I would bother to poison you.”
Lisa sat up and reached for one of the sandwiches in front of her which she promptly inhaled.
“Can आप hear me?” She startled at the sound of her own voice.
“Of course I can hear you, I’m not deaf.”
“But…but…I tried to talk to him and I couldn’t.” Lisa made a motion towards the garden.
Melvina stopped and looked out for a moment, then sighed.
“I am Melvina द्वारा the way. And I would imagine that has something to do with the spell my sister Mavis cast on the two of you.”
“Spell? Why? What on earth have we done? Why are आप doing this?” Lisa spoke between gulps of tea.
Melivna stepped closer to the light coming in through the glass and reached out to touch a plant with a beautiful purple फूल on it. Lisa thought to herself that she wasn’t ugly या as old as she expected a witch to be. She did not fit the stereotype that was for sure.
“I..am not the one who cast this spell. It was my Sister, Mavis. As to why..” Melvina looked about her as if about to tell a secret, “I believe it is a case of jealousy.”
“Jealousy?.. why on earth would she be jealous of me?” Lisa was befuddled completely.
Melvina looked out at Hugh who was laboring away in the garden and then back to Lisa. “My Sister and I have a life that is not made up of the things that most people enjoy. We can’t have normal relationships. Love…well, प्यार is something that has alluded us. Mavis resents that. She wishes और than anything that she could find someone and grow old with them, someone other than her sister that is.”
Lisa was still trying to collect her thoughts. She wasn’t sure how much she could trust this woman near her, या how bold she could be.”
“So…she is jealous because she felt there was something between us she could never have?”
Melvina took in a breath and then nodded a “Yes” to Lisa.
“I guess I don’t understand. Can’t आप do something to stop her?” Lisa looked up at her with a tinge of hope.
Melvina looked cautious again. As if she had to judge what she कहा so carefully.
“Mavis is very..umm…powerful. When she casts, she does it with a great deal of power. I have never been as strong as her. I…can some time temper some of her spells, but I could never erase them completely. I’m sorry, I wish I could do more. “
With that, Melvina turned and stepped through the door. Lisa watched her walk to the house, stopping to give Hugh a glass of water. She went over to the door and tried to open it again, but as she already knew, it wouldn’t open. She watched as the sun began to set. She heard a clock strike six somewhere. She wasn’t sure where it was coming from, but she imagined it must belong to the sisters. Her legs carried to her to the door which now opened all too easily. Hugh was walking towards her again. She looked out at the horizon, over the ocean and she saw that for the moment, a sliver of moon was sharing the sky with what was left of the sun. This was the time when they could cross. He passed her again on his way to the green house which she had just left. Again, he reached out his hand to touch her, but this time their fingers just barely touched. He tried to speak but there was no sound. Lisa walked with a resolve, for at least she understood what was happening. Hugh entered the green house unable to turn back towards Lisa, the door closed behind him. As soon as it did, he could look at over the garden, and watched as Lisa continued the task that he had just left.
“Now” spoke a voice behind him. “You will play for me, like आप played for her.”
Hugh turned to see a पियानो with a candelabra on it and a raven haired woman dressed in dark green standing अगला to it. She smiled at him, but the smile filled him with dread. He knew almost immediately that this was one of the witches he had heard of.
