I find question 3 particularly interesting:
"3) House was definitely going into emotional turmoil last night as his feelings were concealed until the very end when he allowed his vulnerability to be thrown onto the table. Will we see House throw his vulnerability on the table to more characters?
It goes without saying that House doesn't show vulnerability easily or often. It would take a major event, possibly a catastrophic one -- though we may well see a couple more of those this season."
I'm thinking death of a parent, hostage situation, House losing his job, Cuddy losing her job...?
What do you guys think "catastrophic" means?
probably with the Pi. but the Pi leaves in ep 5, after that...cuddy?
Does the PI really LEAVE in Episode 5? It only says that so far, he's appearing in 2, 3, and 5, right? Has it been confirmed that he actually LEAVES?
"Filling that vacuum in his life" ... hmmm.. who could be able to fill this vacuum Wilson has left??... Is anyone else getting a strong Huddy vibe from this answer??
Great, great link, thanks so much for adding!!
yer i think it is one of his parents *spoiler* cause i saw a piccy of house and his dad on the set (sorry, have no ieda where the pic is) i'll try and find it... god i hope his mum doesn't die... but then maybe wilson or cuddy will comfort him...
If his mother died, on the other hand, he would lose someone he actually loved and his father would just pester him about never coming to visit and maybe throw in how he always knew House would become weak one day (he seemed to have a problem with the infarction when we saw him in Daddy's boy.) and that would reveal the past because then both of them would play the offense and if one of the characters were to witness such an argument (I reckon House and his father can both get pretty loud and heated whereas with Blythe and House such an argument would take place in the form of whispers) the secret would be out... and I like it that way because that actually takes the control away from House, so he couldn't deny it...
anyway that's what I think... sorry its half a novel... *blush*
I think that by "more characters" the question inferred "recurrent characters", as in either the ducklings (old and new) or Cuddy, not a character we've only seen once (twice?) and know next to nothing about.
If something did happen to House's mother, I don't think it will be so much about House's childhood as it will be about his present emotional difficulties and how it relates to whatever happened in the past.
When I try to picture House being vulnerable to someone, I see him quietly opening up to Wilson, or Cuddy -or even Thirteen- about what he admitted to dead!Amber when he was in a coma, not a big melodramatic argument with lots of tears and yelling.
You're right Shikabane-Mai, I couldn't find any confirmation that the PI isn't coming back after epsiode 5. But then again, why would he come back? If Wilson and House are friends again, he won't be needed anymore...
About "filling the vacuum in his life": I agree it's about Cuddy. House has just lost his lifeline (Wilson) so the next logical step is to try to secure the only other person we know House cares about...!
stupid thing :(
hope this 1 works!!
So, yeah, smart money's on the mother kicking the bucket!
Wilson will actually be there according to those pictures, and spoilers say there will be a road trip with the two so House could easily reveal bits and pieces on the way to and from the funeral without it being melodramatic, as a matter of fact... I think he has the power to arrange the way he's gonna give Wilson bits and pieces of the puzzle in a way that would make it look insignificant altogether! of course Wilson wouldn't buy that but their friendship would still be fragile (its said to be episode 6 called "Birthmarks") so he wouldn't push it.
maybe House doesn't even need his father to come clean to Wilson... maybe its just him valuing his friendship with the man and its just a token of his appreciation. (lets face it... the tiniest glimpse of House's heart is rare and therefore very precious)
I mean Wilson said he wasn't sure they ever really were friends... maybe this would be House's way of showing him that they are friends...
that's what I think... (my computer needs to be refreshed every other second for me to see new comments so when I was typing this I couldn't see the link...)
Oh, I cannot agree with you more! I like the idea of House giving away these glimpses into his heart because he realized (after the whole Amber/Wilson debacle) he had to let (a few chosen) people come close, even though it hurts sometimes.
the only thing that bothers me is that House was vulnerable in the premiere... he let Wilson come close, and he was open... and he usually doesn't do that because he thinks that will only get you hurt... and then Wilson, the man largely responsible for this change in House's attitude through years of getting closer and closer to him, proves that being vulnerable and open really does get you hurt... that's just so very sad... I'm just wondering what it would take for House to chance opening up to Wilson again... we know he doesn't want to be miserable or in pain so if Wilson's gonna continue causing him pain he'll just go, 'cause that's not what he wants.
maybe that's where the hostage situation spoiler comes in... I mean if Wilson isn't working at PPTH anymore and he's just scanning the channels for some sitcom and ends up seeing House and the others being held hostage there must be SOMETHING he would try to do... especially if the diagnose the patient wants has symptoms that suggest cancer... he would have to act.
anyway... I have to get up at 5:30 AM for school tomorrow so I'd best go to bed now... (its 10 PM)
