Several High Schools were used to film Rydell. The outside of Venice High School, LA was used for the beginning of the movie while Huntington Park High School was where all the inside shots of the classrooms and dance hall, whereas John Marshall High School was used for the track meet scenes and the finale.

Venice High School also featured in the movie “American History X” while John Marshall HS was a location for the movies “Rebel Without A Cause”, “Pretty In Pink”, “Space Jam”, “A Nightmare On Elm Street”, “Uncle Buck” and the TV series “The Wonder Years” amongst others.
