The आग lapped at the trees, smothering the forest. Nothing looked familiar to Waterlily, it all looked distant, as if she was no longer a part of it. She was alone amongst the trees, and she tensed herself as the sound of approaching बिल्ली drew nearer and nearer...
Suddenly the बिल्ली of StarClan surrounded her, staring respectably at her as if she was their leader. She looked around, from one way to the other, and realized at long last that there was a अंतरिक्ष in between Crowstar and another cat.
"What's happening?" Waterlily asked, her call echoing.
"Waterlily," Grassstar croaked, her old-age दिखा रहा है through.
Of course, Waterlily thought. Grassstar is old here because she was happy at the end of her life, with her strong Clan and her growing kits.
"It's not my time!" Waterlily protested, suddenly realizing what was happening. She was joining StarClan.
Grassstar and Crowstar, mother and daughter, looked distantly into a अंतरिक्ष behind Waterlily. She turned and saw what they were looking at - an image of her, lying motionless on her medicine cat's den. I wonder if they've noticed me yet, Waterlily thought silently. If they even care.
As silent as her thoughts, she stepped आगे to the अंतरिक्ष left for her, sat in it and watched sadly as her Clan continued with their lives. Oh well.
She was dead to them now.
