Why do Rhett कहा that he's a legal carer of a little boy in New Orleans? And what about the moment when Wade asked him about "the other sons"?

Do आप think that this boy is Belle Watling's son [whom Belle mentions to Melanie]? And Rhett's son as well?

Do आप know what the assumption was based on? I never could find anything in GWTW that gave और than a hint. Isn't it funny how different authors explain this child away?
