It was called After the Emmys: addressing Game of Thrones prequel rumors and the HBO party! | Watchers on the दीवार | A Game of Thrones Community for Breaking News, Casting, and Commentary
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
The Emmy Awards turned out splendidly last night for
and its cast and crew, with the show taking home three awards, bringing their 2016 total to
twelve wins. This season’s new batch of wins helped the show break the Emmy record for primetime show awards. It was a great night for HBO itself, as the network received 22
Emmys, the most of any network for the 15th year in a row. After the ceremony and speeches were over, the
bunch hit the press room and then headed over to HBO’s Post Emmy Awards Reception at The Plaza.
The cast and crew fielded questions from reporters about their win, creating season six and the future of
As always, showrunner D.B Weiss was cagey about the new season, only hinting, “It will be bigger and it will be better. And it will also be worse. But mostly better.”
Not unexpectedly, the talk turned to a possible prequel series after GoT’s run is over. Showrunner David Benioff says, “You might want to ask George [R.R. Martin] about that. He explains, “I’m sure there will be other series set in Westeros but for us, this is it, so that’s really a question for George.”
With the baton passed to him, Martin acknowledged his “wealth of material” for a potential new series, but says at the moment they still have this show and he has two books to finish so the new series talk is “all speculation.”
After press room duties were finished, the cast and crew were free to celebrate! Everyone headed over to The Plaza for HBO’s afterparty. Thankfully, there are plenty of photos from the event, courtesy of IMDB and FirstLook:
Maisie Williams changed her entire outfit from the Emmys before she went to the party:

Iwan Rheon joined the event, with the cast:
For a more candid look: Leslie Jones, a notoriously big fan of the show, met the cast last night at the after-party-
Ok I seriously met everyone I watch in television it’s fucking cray. Now y’all know how much I love GOT! Well… pic.twitter.com/opNazmm4ug
Wait…OUEEN OF DRAGONS YALL!! And literally one of the nicest people I ever met. She didn’t care I was geeking out pic.twitter.com/aaZg16g1OC
It looks like an amazing party. The cast deserves the celebration, especially with season 7 filming starting this month. It’ll be back to work very soon for most of them, if they haven’t begun already!
Stay tuned for more Emmys coverage today, as we gather up the best interviews of the night!

I read that Tom Hiddleston wanted to meet Maisie. Glad that she’s still being acknowledged.
Damn Sophie looks so different with blonde hair. In a good way though!
I love them all so much.Maisie’s second dress is so pretty
Any fashionistas out there who can tell me how Emilia’s dress stays up?
hahaha yeah, its hard material at the top that sits quite tight, no reason for it to fall. I have a dress I wore to wedding similar at the top. No issues staying up LOL
Love to this team! The backstage interview is hilarious. Also- Leslie Jones is awesome!
omg Clarke is insanely gorgeous!!! Love everything about Maisie, esp the hair. Love Turner’s dress.
The black tuxes always make it look like men are wearing uniforms. Shame they’re so limited when it comes to dressing up for a red carpet.
GRRM looks like a proud papa 🙂
I’d love a prequel, but knock on wood GRRM finishes the last two books before that comes to pass. OK I’ve given up on the concluding volume, but please, please finish Winds, at least, before moving on to something else.
They all look amazing. I love when Conleth does goofy stuff in the pictures, so great. 🙂
And oh I love Conleth even more now for the answer to the closing interview question haha!
I like those pics where they look chilled with hands in their pockets or goofy-ing around having fun…
Poor Jack Bender. Nobody mentioned him and you know…he only directed “The Door” 🙂
Unfortunately, Emilia Clarke (that particular dress just doesn’t work for some reason) and Maisie Williams (too avante-garde).
Also David Benioff. His hair just seemed…off, compared to say, Weiss.
Sophie looks a bit weird with that blonde hair… Too light in my opinion.
Yeah, it’s a pretty style for her (though I think the color is too close to her own skin tone). But all I can think of in looking at the pix of it is, “Man, that looks freaking uncomfortable!” Like a whalebone corset.
I like Hannah’s gown a lot – so soft! In the group shots she really stands out amongst all those black suits.
Leslie Jones is such a hoot! She’s having so much fun geeking out.
A pox on all those horrible people who were abusive to her on Twitter.
I hope the new series isn’t The Dance of Dragons. That story is already written and we know how it ends. I think the new story should take place in Dorne and be centered mainly on the southern kingdoms of Westeros that we haven’t seen much in GoT (i.e. The Reach, Westerlands, and Riverlands).
Oh, arbiter of fashion justice. Randyll Tarly would be jealous. I trust your opinions will make it on a wiki somewhere in this vast nothing called the internet.
Flesh-toned colored spaghetti straps … if you look closely you can see them!
Hannah Murray and gwendolines dresses are not nicer than Emilia’s lol.
I actually do no like their dresses at all. Maisies either
If you are going to do avant-garde then Maisie’s age is the time to do it. She’s super young and playful, avant-garde matches that style. I love that Maisie is not the cookie cutter type, it is always good to have people who do their own thing. I so loved the director who won for Transparent because among all those corsets and flowy dresses, there she was dressed like her own self not trying to pretend. Same reason why I loved the tennis shoes on Miguel Sapochnik. I though Emilia looked beautiful but I did wonder if she was comfortable, that looked like a very tight cossetted dress, the type that hinders the act of breathing and kills any hope of eating well at dinner.
Ravyn: Any fashionistas out there who can tell me how Emilia’s dress stays up?
It’s probably the same type of wiring that is used in underwire bras – you can sort of see the effect in the cleavage shot of Emilia. It’s more than stiff material – the “corners” of the dress stick up and the tiniest bit away from her perfect skin, it has to be wiring. It looks like the under-layer of the whole top of the dress is made like a long-line bra. Fabulous tailoring to get the effect of soft and flowing but with that structure, but I imagine by the end of the night she was glad to get out of it. They all looked wonderful. Wish Lena had been there.
I must admit, that after sticking through the whole 3 hour slog, and no one from the cast won anything, I stopped watching in disappointment and disgust. I missed the Best Drama award. Glad to see they got that.
Who is the bald guy with the beard standing between Emilia and Maisie right under the ABC sign? He looks so familiar but I can’t place him. Everyone else looks great — I think all the ladies look stunning.
In the picture of the entire cast, who is the gentleman to GRRM’s right with the looong white beard? And the two ladies to Kit’s left – who are they?
That is Chris Newman. I believe he is in charge of the scheduling. I think the dark haired lady is Carolyn Strauss. Not sure who the other one is.

I think those are producers, but that’s just my guess.
I was surprised NCW showed up. I thought he’d sit this year out like Lena. Everyone looks great.
Leslie Jones is fun, I’d definitely hang out with her at a
