Game of Thrones episode 10 review: \'The Winds of Winter\' might be the show\'s best ever episode

 set sail for the Seven Kingdoms, and with her army in order and poor old Daario left behind to mind the shop, her thoughts have turned to marriage. After all, nobody in Westeros has the first idea who she is...

The hair (and dragons) ought to give her away as a Targaryen quickly enough, but Dany is an unknown quantity to the people. A marriage to an established figure in Westeros would legitimise her, and make the presence of such a strange invader easier to swallow. But who\'s the lucky lord to be?

The obvious candidate is Jon Snow, who has just been raised to the position of King in the North. Not only would that get half of Westeros on her side, but given what we now know about Jon\'s lineage – that he\'s almost certainly half Targaryen – a marriage between the two would also fit nicely with the Targaryen habit of incestuous marriage. Because she\'s his aunt.

Of course, there are other options: Littlefinger might fancy his luck in the face of Sansa\'s rejection, while Euron Greyjoy has already stated his intention to marry the Mother of Dragons...

Several people on Arya\'s murder list have been killed on the show, not all by her own hand. And when she had the Hound at her mercy, she couldn\'t bring herself to do it. There was no such hesitation when it came to Walder Frey this week, with the younger of the Stark girls showing a particular knack for cruelty in not only slicing his throat open, but also feeding him the remains of his murdered sons in a pie. (a \'Reverse Cartman\', as it will henceforth be known)

But now that she\'s had training and is capable of acting on it, who\'s left on her list? The big one is obviously Cersei, although it seems somewhat unlikely that the new Queen will fall at the hands of Arya. Cersei is such a major character that it feels like her eventual death (for it\'s surely coming) will be on a grander scale than by sneaky assassination.

Perhaps the most dramatically satisfying next step for Arya would be to run into The Hound again, having left him for dead – or so she thought... She was shown to be ambivalent about keeping him on her list when questioned in the House of Black and White. But Arya\'s pissed at Beric and Thoros for selling Gendry (still rowing…), and tracking

down would lead her right into an unexpected reunion with Sandor Clegane. 

Neither of them are the people they once were, so seeing how would the pair react when faced with each other again would be a lot of fun. Namin\' swords and eatin\' chickens.

Since leaving the Wall, Samwell\'s adventures haven\'t been the most exciting in Westeros. His visit home was a solid story for one episode, reminding us of the good-natured Sam\'s concealed courage, while clueing us into what might have made him so meek to begin with by introducing us to his abhorrent father...

He\'s already discovered the sprawling, beautiful library there, but a season of Sam reading scrolls and parchments isn\'t likely to set many pulses racing. He\'s there to train as a Maester, so perhaps there\'s some fun to be had in seeing that play out, like a

But the last time a character went off on their own to a new location to train (Arya), the whole thing felt drawn out and disconnected from the main narrative.

Sam\'s story has pretty much caught up with the books now, so there\'s not even any material there to draw from, unless GRRM miraculously manages to publish

in the next few months. He\'s one of the series\' most endearing and well-drawn characters, so let\'s hope the writers invent a way to keep him from stagnating in an old library. And besides, Gilly and baby Sam deserve better than sitting around in a lobby for days on end.

4. How will Jaime react to what Cersei did?

Cersei might have beaten Margaery and the High Sparrow and gained a throne with her explosive manoeuvre in King\'s Landing, but she might also have lost everything else at the same time.

Her son, poor, sweet Tommen, took his own life rather than live with a mother that would willingly and knowingly murder his wife (and a whoooole bunch of other people). And when Jaime Lannister rode back in to cast an eye over the chaos, he didn\'t look especially pleased, either.

After all, the defining moment in Jaime\'s life came when he took it upon himself to cut down Aerys, the Mad King, to stop him from burning King\'s Landing to the ground with wildfire. That was a heroic act, but the rest of the world didn\'t care. They labelled him Kingslayer, Oathbreaker and plenty worse. It basically ruined Jaime\'s life.

So to return home and find out that his sister has done the exact thing that he destroyed himself to prevent? Yeah, we\'d be pretty narked, too. Not to mention the fact that Cersei\'s actions have taken his one remaining son away forever.

Cersei may be Queen now, but all she really wanted was to be with Jaime and keep her children safe. Well, she failed on the latter, and there\'s every chance she might have ruined her chances at the former, too. It\'s a lonely seat, the Iron Throne…

5. Is the Night King about to tear down the wall?

So when Benjen / Coldhands drops Bran and Meera off down by the Wall, he states that he can\'t come with them because of ancient spells and wards that are built into the Wall to protect it. 

These spells prevent the living dead from crossing into the south, and given his current state of existence, that includes Benjen. But surely in that case it also includes – if not the White Walkers themselves – then certainly their army of the dead. So how are they going to get across?

In the books, the Horn of Joramun – eight feet long, and boasting magical properties – is rumoured to have the power to break down the wall, should anyone ever find it and blow into it.

Mance Rayder once claimed he had it, only for Melisandre to then burn it. But Tormund reassures Jon that it wasn\'t the real horn anyway – they never found it. So is it out there? Does it even exist? 

Years back, when Sam, Grenn and Edd uncovered a buried cache of dragonglass up at the Fist of the First Men, there was a horn in there too, but the series never featured it again, and it was probably just an easter egg for fans (it certainly wasn\'t eight feet long, either).

But if the Night King means to come south now that winter has come, he\'s got to cross the Wall somehow. And if Benjen\'s right, that means tearing it down.
